More Military News for Researchers

The other day I wrote a report on where one can find more data on the military member in the family now or in the past. Yesterday I received another magazine called the Military Officer  Never Stop Serving.  This one discussed underwater discoveries (shipwrecks). It also had article about Major Richard Star's Brave Fight. pg 60. Other articles also. New SourcesAs we are catching up with deaths in family, I found new sources to look at for information to locate kin. Some of it I have lived with…See More

American History

American HistoryHow many of  us really know our American History.  ??? Amazed at how the Genealogical Community is shy of historical information on tracking down the missing pieces.  OOO no not everyone, but we need to get the word out that our history is very important to our research and survival.   Younger generations than mine were not given even as much as I was in the 50's regarding our true history and how things began and what was planned and alas we all seem to think we know the…See More

Grandma Unknown generation.

Grandma Great Great Great unknown.  When I was young Grandad could name her. We did not write in the album. When older he could only remember she was a Grandma on his side and some history about her.  Mom did write data finally down in the album in  1958.  I sent copies of unlabled pictures to Hoffman/Huffman Reunion in  Iowa.  I have not known of a reunion in Greene Co. Pa ever. Though a small group of us got together in September 1993. Waynesburg, PA was the place and I stayed with Helen…See More

I did find that marriage certificate some years ago but trying to find his parents has been my brick wall. Charles would have been born, based on marriage cert, census and death info between 1859 and 1863.

Yes, I am the same. 30 years looking for the ancestors of Charles Wright no luck. The test came out as I1a-M253.

Thanks

Hi Susan

I have not found any Powell lines in PA that connect to the Duval line in MD. Mine strictly seem to be in the  original settlement of  Bethpage, Long Island, NY and later some moved to Dutchess Co., Westchster Co., Steuben Co, and Saratoga Co., NY     Most seemed to have remained in Saratoga and Stueben Counties, however, my direct line left NY and settled first in Wisconsin and then some left to settle  in Iowa circa 1859 and subsequently stayed there for a good 4 generations or longer. Sorry I am not able to connect to the MD Powell/Duval lines.
