Sentimental Sunday,,, With the Passage of Time

  With the Passage of Time

With the Passage of Time, we pray  God will take away our pain. With the passage of time we trust we will learn to

Trust God more.  The passage of time means things are going to change we must look forward to the change.

To look back is to defeat the purpose of the change. To have good memories is a good thing. Look forward to '

remembering the good things. Let God have the bad memories and help you move…

Sentimental Sunday,,, Blogs, and Time and Distance

It is truly a Sentimental  Sunday, we lost a very dear friend yesterday. He has gone to a better place I am sure.

It hurts so bad it is hard to speak of him even. He was so ready to move on with his adventures. His time here was so very, very long. Our daughter will miss her adopted Grandfather in ways I can yet to even begin to fathom.

This man even affect the grandchildren of our children. I received a call from Upland today to say to his Grandfather,"…

Migration from the Beginning of Time, What?

After  doing research to complete my presentation to the Genealogical Society I have decided to make a few                notes here.

Migration happend once we were created.  YDNA and genetic researchers are saying that  we migrated    out of Africa  to the north and then east and west.  New information surfacing is considering muddling those waters.  When are they not muddled.

It seems the state of Georgia has some…

More on Migration

Burbank's Jamboree, had comments a plenty on Migration and Migration Routes, how to locate in census, how to locate in land files, BLM land Records and about any way you look migration can be picked up and pulled out to add to ones family history what they did, where they went and how to find if we loose them on the trail.

Leland M did a fast, packed, and paced talk on routes across the eastern seaboard coming later into the mid west to the Pacific Ocean.

 Almost every…

Maps and more Maps

As a major user of maps in my genealogy adventures I wanted to share this post from NGS to those whom read

this blog. Yes, you can pass it along also.

Maps can unlock doors, direct you where you really need to be looking and explain how a person lived in four

places and never moved.

I also suspect that few genealogists are members of NGS and are aware of this information.

Genealogy --- Sometimes Re Invents Itself

Having just left the great new page on Facebook for the Old Golden Gate Forum group and others and seeing how it

has expanded in the last 24 hours, I could not resist this tidbit.  For two  years we quietly languished for finding our old roommates and chatter friends and workers.  Facebook changes a format and we have had 60 people found that never knew they were lost.

It is hoped we can encourage them to come to this site and re start some of the great group…

Genealogy and It's Evolving Door

  Genealogy and It's Evolving Door

Yes, it is  ever evolving, to new and different dimensions.  I started when young helping my Mother Dorothy Inez Hoffman Jones, bless her soul.  We  talked to many relatives in Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, Colorado New Mexico, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada and California.  She had talked to people from: Wyoming, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and maybe even from one or two from…

Genealogy Conference Duel Positions

  Genealogy Conferences  Duel Positions

I read Janet H. comments recently and it was a very interesting and brought to mind lots of thoughts.

So I waited a few days until I could get them put in smoothly in my mind.

That does not happen often. I learned when young my brain is wired different than many and so my thoughts are many times to fast for the proper exposure to society.

Janet, first I look forward to seeing you each time you are at…

Genealogists to assist, share this Information with those in need of help?

I just came off the Facebook page that is assisting people to inter link with the lost threads of their lives or their deceased familes lives. They are finding and sharing: scraps of photos, crochet work, quilting, photo albums, wedding pictures, Graduation shots, family scenes, picnic and fun events.

Since a quilt shop was destroyed and she held many quilts on display, I noticed in the talks that some were aware that there was a Quilt Shop damaged. Others just found them and had…

Starting in the Middle of the Page for Genealogy

Starting in the Middle of the Page for Genealogy.

Now have you ever done that? Leapt in with both feet and landed in the middle, the choice to go forward or to go back wards.  Do we look to the future generations or do we look at the past generations?  It makes for an interesting tilt to your research.

Some times unorthodox methods shake the tree and good fruit falls from it.

Some say that I am out to collect the most relatives I…

52 Weeks of Personal Genealogy and History March

Disasters Week

Disasters were the fire, after I moved. Tornado when I was a Junior in the High School. Floods many times we had floods. Fortunately it damaged only the foundation and out buildings and we have had to reset the one corner of the house a few times. The house sets on a rock base and only one corner is not. Large old style timbers make the base of home very strong sturdy. Winds and water was the most normal damage we would have. Trees blown over and road blocked were a…

52 weeks of Personal Genealogy and History February

Radio and Television

We listened to lots of Radio and did not have a TV until I was 13 plus. We could not watch it but on Friday night and Saturday evening Talent shows and Sunday news early.  Later we watched Sky King and other events.

Ed Sullivan Show, was popular. I loved the detective shows on radio.

Toys Week

Toys, well we had dolls, cowboy boots, guns and bows and arrows.  We built Lincoln Logs and Erector Sets.

We did a lot of games…
