 New York Church Records

This week past has brought much discussion on NY state church records.

I have used usgenweb.org and then the county to gather what I could find prior to asking for more help.

More help is found in many places.  I do not know if the Way Back Machine will find Barbara's site anymore.

I use Cliff Lamere's site often.

Albany & Eastern New York Genealogy - Cliff Lamere

It has over 1,300 links and 200  webpages.  Make sure you read his front page regarding search engines before you get stuck or lost.

As most of you know, or maybe not Pat Connors has specialized in Rensselaer County Records.

Rensselaer County, NY GenWeb site for genealogy and history

She has posted over 93,000 names for Cemetery data base. Also updated Church records 29 Jan 2012.

This site represents what the usgenweb.org projected when they created the program.

Another great resouce is :    Troy Irish Genealogy Society - Transcription Projects

Click on Projects then on Church & Synagogues.

It covers more than Irish surnames and covers a vast area for information.

Today I see that another name has been added to this list.

This person covers much of Albany County.  So I will get to know her well I suspect. Her name is Betty Fink.

My Genealogy Page

I think many people get confused when the sites left the usgenweb.org domain and went under rootsweb.ancestry.com site.  These are all free sites no pay involved.

Give them a try and if you have good luck let us know or if you know of other great New York sites share that here also please.

Hi Susi,  thank you for responding.  yes, I did try the Way Back Machine but nothing.  I am just kicking myself because I found 2 pieces of information at that site in Albany County and I kept meaning to go back and do a screen shot and you know the story one day leads to the next then I forgot and now...it's not there :(.  I have done all kinds of Google searches trying to relocate it.  I see links posted all over the place but they all lead back to what is the current site of adware.  Thanks again.  Shona

Shona, I would try the Way Back Machine to locate. It is possible that it is no longer a active site but the data can still be viable.

Hi all,

I see you have a link to Betty Fink's pages, does anyone know what's happened to her information.  When I go there it's just a site of advertisers and I am not sure if I'm suppose to click on something to get back to the info she had or what.  Can anyone advise?  Thank you Shona Desbiens

I gave the wrong site for Pat Connors: it is here

Troy NY Genealogy Data

The other one is Rensselaer Co. NY site.  Both have much data also this came in later today.

http://fultonhistory.com covers more than Fulton Co.

McClurg Museum - Home of the Chautauqua County Historical Society, ...

Enjoy, and sorry about the mix up on sites. Lin and Pat both do great work along with Cliff and many others.
