"I believe adoption records could be unsealed once you reach a certain age. Also did you ask your adoptive mother or people who were around when you were adopted? Clues as to school your mother attended might help you. I would start with what ever…"

I am new at thin but I will give you all the info I have! I am not aware of any Native American ancestry. My great grandfather, Thomas Wentworth Lemon was born 22 Oct 1868 in WV (do not know city or county). He married Amelia Jane Lewis in 1919 and died in Beckley in 1944. His father, James Henry Lemon was born 5 Apr 1839 in Botetourt County, VA and died in 1921 in Raleigh county WV. He married Marinda Caroline Shumate in 1866 in Raleigh county, WV. He was a farmer. I found a Silas Lemon (1819-1887) that moved from Botetourt to Raleigh county that is probably his father. And I also have a Peter Lemon that could be Silas's father but have no info on him. Again, I am new at this and I have yet to confirm that the last two Lemon's are my ancestors. Does any of this sound familiar? I assumed I had Scots Irish ancestry as well. My whole mother's side of the family has been in the VA/WV area for centuries!
