I am a descendant of Elizabeth Graves, who was married to Joseph Hibbard born 1648, /salem, Massachusetts. I don't know anything about her. But the Hibbard line is connected to Lady dianna Spencer. Scott

Karen - Thanks for opening up your group to cover all GRAVES lines. Hopefully, being Admin won't be too burdensome!

Mary, have you been working on the Graves or are you working on other lines?

Feel free to upload any files that pertain to the descendants of Thomas and Martha. You can do this under "Start Discussion". In the words of a famous Iowa genealogist, "The more we share, the more we have to share!"

Actually, that wouldn't be my Graves family. I thought it was Graves in general.

I decided to expand the focus of the group to include ALL the children of Thomas and Martha (Dixon) Graves, not just that of John.

Karen, in case you aren't aware, your Graves family from John and Elizabeth Freeman Graves is part of genealogy 85 on the Graves Family Association website at http://www.gravesfa.org/gen085.htm. John Graves is #49 in that genealogy, descended from Thomas Graves, an immigrant to what became New Castle Co., Delaware, USA. Our recent research indicates he was from Northern Ireland, and the surname probably went through a couple of changes.

Hi Bonnie, I guess you have seen that information before. :)

Oops, spelled mean incorrectly. I have visited the Pooler graveyard in Skowhegan and seen the grave makers for the Graves and Poolers. That is one of my clues that Betsey is the daughter (granddaughter?) of William and Betsey Graves.

Yes,

I believe I contributed that information. As I said,it hasn't been proved. Betsy is buried in the Pooler Graveyard in Skowhegan as is William Merril Graves who may be Betsey's brother b.1821. If the dates are correct, Betsy Graves b. 1830 would mewn that her possible mother would have been 47 at the time of Betsey's birth. My sister and I have thought that Betsey could possibly be the illegitimate child of one of her sisters. I have found no birth, baptism, or other record while the rest of the children of William and Betsey are all accounted for.
