My father's family is native West Virginian. He was born in Rainelle, West Virginia in Greenbrier county. The research I have done has included the following surnames: SPADE, THOMAS, FOX, BOWYER, SANNER, KINCAID, COLLISON/CALLISON, LEGG, SKAGGS, WHITE, NEAL, LUCAS, SMITH, FLESHMAN, HALL/HULL, DEHART, FOSTER, ANDERSON, OSBORN, OBRINE, WALKER BABER, LOWMAN, SHAWVER, SHUCK and KENNY. Most of these families lived in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Fayette counties.

Id find out if hancock co. wv or even brooke co. wv. have an historical society or even genealogy society. They might be able to help you out. Check with Rootsweb.com and click on where at the bottom where it says Research Templates and click on the USA. Then click on the state you want and then on the county. They usually have webpages and there might somebody on there that could help you out. Try the state archives too.

My mother died leaving old photographs of friends, neighbors and boyfriends from Weirton, WV. Circa 1940s. Also have clippings of the Weirton Steel Mill 'newsletter' during WWII. What site would be the best to post these photos for maximum viewing in hopes somebody may recognize a friend or relative?
