Hi,
I'm new to GenealogyWise and this group. I am researching ancestors in Eastern PA, mostly Bucks Co and Philadelphia. My surnames in this region are Conover, Etris, Hambleton, Holcombe, Houseworth, Payran/Pairan, Shaffer, Stackhouse, Swartz, Weaver. Anyone else have surnames in common?
I am so new that I haven't even searched all these surnames on the site. Am still trying to figure out the ins and outs.
Peggy,
I have a lot of Gehret and alternate spellings and I have one that moved to MD. My Christian Gehret moved from PA and died in MD so did some of his family....
Lewis I hav e a lot of Gehrets in my tree in PA can I ask you if you can also send me your list? I am at Spra100076 at aol dot com
I have 90 in my tree, mostly PA. They are not in my direct ancestry line but just
happen to be connected. If you want to look them over give me an e-mail and
I'll extract the list with dates and if it then looks worth while I'll be glad to dig a
bit deeper for you. e-mail me LHartswick at Earthlink dot Net
I have a couple Gerhardt's in my tree that were in my tree. One married to Frank Jacob Stoudt, Jennie S, begins my line with them. She was born 1879 and passed away in 1965. She was from Berks county.
I am announcing the release of my book, Black Minqua: The Life and Times of Henry Green. The book is about my ancestors who lived in and around the Welsh Mountain as early as the 1700's. Thomas and Joseph Green received original Patents and Warrants from The sons of William Penn, John, Thomas, and Richard. In 1737 he left a will naming his heirs and his wife Ann as his executor. At that time he owned land and property in Chester and Lancaster County. Henry Green, a descendant of Thomas was a participant in the Christiana Resistance, an event that took place on 9/ 11/1851. He and his brothers also fought in the United States Colored Troops out of Lancaster County.
This book is important for the family and local history it contains. I will be holding a reading and signing at the Welsh Mountain Community Center on August 4, 2012, beginning at 10:30 am.
