Trying to make a connection between William Ivey and Edward Ivey in Easton in mid 1800s. I suspect they were brothers back in Cornwall, England but cannot prove it - ideas??

My husband Ray's surnames include Gray, Todd, Kirk, Thiessen. Family is primarily from Philadelphia, PA via England in the 1700s

Like Velma, I'm also interested mostly in Luzerne County, specifically around Hazleton. My Farrell (Irish) ancestors settled there sometime between 1840 and 1875, and my Weber (German) ancestors sometime between 1870 and 1890. Both families seem to have settled there shortly after immigrating to the U.S.

I'm interested in Luzerne county, mainly. The main lines I'm researching are Cragle and Sorber. They came to PA in late 1700s. I'd like to find out where they were located prior to moving to PA. Possibly Connecticut? Although I haven't been able to find any in that location. I am also looking for Gearhart, Phillips, and Curtis.

President George Washington publicly favored the establishment of roads to promote the westward expansion of our nation. In 1791, the legislature of the Pennsylvanian Commonwealth approved a state-wide transportation plan and a year later created the Philadelphia and Lancaster Turnpike Company. The turnpike charter called for the construction of a 62-mile log-surfaced road, which provided successful transport for settlers and their goods over the muddy territories.
The Lancaster Turnpike route was later replaced by a canal after 1800 and then the beginnings of a railroad in the 1880s. The Allegheny Mountains posed a barrier to William Vanderbilt and Andrew Carnegie, who at the time were building a railroad from Harrisburg west to Pittsburgh to compete with a more northerly route provided by the booming Pennsylvania Railroad. Over one-half of the roadbed was constructed and seven tunnels partially excavated before Vanderbilt went broke in 1885.

I'm looking for information on the PA. turnpike in the 1830's. The southern route (I don't know if there was a northern route at that time period). My sister found an envelope that she had written on when talking to our grandmother. My grandmother said her grandfather's parents owned or operated the first Inn west of the Allegheny mountains and I'm trying to find resource information that may help me track it down.
