WANTED, Help transcribing books about Texas for http://www.TrailsToThePast.org.

I have several ebooks about Texas (or a particular area of Texas) that I would like to transcribe / format for posting on the Texas county pages at Trails To The Past.  All of these books are in the ‘public domain’ (not copyrighted) and were written in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s.

The books contain history about the state, Texas counties and cities as well as biographies (hundreds of them) about those who were instrumental in the formation of Texas as we know it today.

I am currently working on “Types of Successful Men of Texas” by Lewis E Daniell.  I have completed a bio on R. M. Page of Tarrant Co., TX (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txtarrtp/biographies-p.html) and I am working on a bio about Oran Milo Roberts (17th governor of Texas).

I am looking for volunteers who would like to assist in the transcribing/formatting of these books.  No pressure.  You can work as much or as little as your schedule permits.  If you think you would be interested in helping, please contact me at charlie.vines@gmail.com.

Blessings,

The team at GenealogyTrails.com spends time throughout the year researching and transcribing data for different states. All data that comes in is posted to the
appropriate county/state. During the first three weeks of December we are
focusing on Texas (the entire state). I currently host Dallas, Hunt, and
Lubbock Counties within the state. If anyone would be interested in posting any data related to Texas (or anywhere else for that matter), please forward it to me orto the appropriate county host and we will work to get it posted.

GenealogyTrails is dedicated to provided a resource for free genealogy data.
The main website is www.genealogytrails.com.

Looking for parents of John Taylor (JT) Whittiker states he from Texas had a sister named Margaret Ann. Margaret Ann married a William Price in Fannin county in 1864 then married William Cox in 1868… Dna is a perfect match from William Whitaker from Upshur county but cant find any record of JT with him. William Whitaker is a brother? to Alexander Whitaker and Sarah Pillows from montgomery county and Peter Whittiker who married Lcuy Jackson then died in 1867.. some of the family moved to McLennon and coryell counties. there may have been another sister Mary Wade who was ;in Hunt county then her son moved to Collin county.

Is anyone available to help with some lookups in the Mansfield, Tarrant Co. area? I sure could use some help. I'm particularly needing some help locating a few obits. Even just knowing who to contact down that way that might have the old obits would be most helpful. Thank you!

Good Morning, Everyone,

I am new to this group so I thought I would 'drop a line'. I live in Garland, Texas. My wife's family is from Hunt County (I always thought of Hunt Co as part of N.C Tx, but not sure about the map above). Anyway, I serve as the host of the Hunt County, Texas website on genealogytrails.com (http://genealogytrails.com/tex/prairieslakes/hunt) and Dallas County, Texas also (http://genealogytrails.com/tex/prairieslakes/dallas). Please stop in for a visit and if anyone would like to contribute to either site, I would be glad to post it for you.

For anyone in the North Central Texas area, then you are certainly blessed because we are lucky enough to have a Federal Archive in Fort Worth. (let me know if you don't know where that is. I can help after I stop laughing) Anyway, it's pretty easy to get to and despite the summer's heat is a pretty cool place to go if you like genealogy.

Also, a new rule that I didn't know for ages is that Texas has changed it records rules. You can now obtain a record for any one in the state at YOUR local heath department. I doesn't matter if they were born in another county or not. YEAH!!!!! I have family in several Texas areas so this is a HUGH help that I can take care of my business locally and not have to drive to Dallas to do it. Also, if you didn't know. You can only change a birth record if an older family member is still alive. My mother's records are wrong and we can no longer change it because she is the oldest family member living, so check the records and make sure their correct.
