There is an Online Video for Version 2009 here:

If you use this link, please provide some detailed feedback to Family Tree Maker 2009. You will probably not receive feedback from them, but the developers do read the feedback.

Earlier Version of Family Tree Maker

There are a number of User to User Message Boards. This first link will take you to a list of Family Tree Maker GenForums based on the problem that you are trying to resolve:

When posting a message on any of these message boards, it is MOST HELPFUL to mention the Version of Windows that you are using, and the Version of Famliy Tree Maker that you are uisng. You can determine that by clicking on Help, then About Family Tree Maker. That will help the Users help you.

It is also helpful to be specific as to what the issue is or the question is, based on what you see in Family Tree Maker. If there is an Error Message, please provide the specific Error Message. What you see and what you expect to see is also helpful.

The All in One tree shows ancestors and descendants both. As opposed to trees that show just one or the other of those two.

Caro,

I don't know anything more then what Randy posted.

I know a lot of users have asked about the All-In-One Tree, but most have not been able to say WHY they want the All-In-One Tree. I never use it. It would take too long to generate, would never be able to print it, would be too small print to be readable on a large printer.

I ask, not to say that the All-In-One Tree isn't important, because I know some good uses for it. But, I'd like to know why you want the All-In-One Tree, as three may be other ways to get "at" what you might use the All-In-One Tree for. There are new trees and reports that mey do what you are looking for.

Thank you,

Russ

I see the 2010 version is coming out in August. I'm thinking of just saving up some money and waiting until then to buy the new version.

Can you tell me what tree it is that comes close to, but is not, an All-In-One tree? Just curious. (-:

Caro - The "different" versions are NOT the Family Tree Maker program. Its what comes with the program. Please read the find print in the sales information.

Yes, right now, the All-In-One Tree is NOT in version 2009. There is a tree that comes very close to it.

Here is a link to a Blog that I have created for the Family Tree Maker program.

There is an example of the Blog, just above the Comment Wall.

Hope that helps.

I don't trust ebay as I haven't had good experiences with them. I just found a few on Amazon but now I have a new question. For the 2009 version - since that's the one I'm finding - what is the difference between the "essentials" and "deluxe" and "platinum" editions?

I'm hearing that the 2009 can't print an "all in one" tree, so which version is best? I currently have a different program but I would like to get a few different ones since they all seem to have different pros and cons.

Caro - Have you checked eBay? You should be able to find Version 2006 or Version 16 there. I wouldn't go for any earlier versions. I would also suggest that you not try or use Version 2008.

I'd like to get a copy of FTM but I just can't spend $70 for one. Does anyone know where I can find a used copy? Maybe from someone who decided to upgrade and doesn't want the 08 or 07 copy anymore?

Russ - Thanks for the reply. I think we have actually talked on the FTM forums. I noticed that their appears to be an export to Ancestry.com function in FTM2009. I have only been using .gencom files so far. I will look at your link and try this. I have actually been working exclusively in FTM recently so maybe this will work out for me. Looking forward to your insights in this new venue.

Anita - Many folk have expressed that same concern. I would suggest that you use the Feedback Website and provide that information to the Developers --- Thank you
