my grandma came from prague, czek. her maiden name was HRANKA. all i know about the family is: her name was AGNES her brothers were CYRILL, and JOHN, and sis was JOSEPHINE. she might have had more, because someone stayed behind to tend the "farm" in her hometown. Cyrill lived in Canada, near Niagra Falls. My grandma was born May 5th, approx. 1888. She married William Van Deusen (?) who changed his name to Rice. (my moms parents.) Josephine came to N.Y.C. along with Agnes, and later came John. Josephine married a man by the name of John Zimic. Uncle John never married.

My name is Frantisek Galik. I am from Domaniza Slovakia. I believe my family name originates in Hungary. There are a lot of people in my area with this surname.

Well that link didn't work. Just go to familysearch.org and click on Library at the top and then Library Catalog. Do place name search and type in Myjava.

Kristina,
Your best bet is to order films. The LDS has them. http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframese...*%2C0%2C0&PLACE=Myjava&PARTOF=&prePLACE=Myjava&prePARTOF=

Looking for Yamnicky. We're sure the family name was changed when my Ggrandfather came to the US somewhere between 1900-1910, but only conjecture as to what it was before that. Any ideas?
