I have not been able to fig what happened to William Brose before August Pust married Johanna.
Another wall I am trying to chip away has to do with my mother's father, Charles Henry Louden (aka Louder). I found him in the 1900 UK Census under his birth name but nothing before or after. His birth was 08 Mar 1885 Redhill Surrey but family lore has he being born on ship while family traveling from Scotland to England.. Have no idea where is Scotland or where landing was in England. The change of surname came while he was in the UK army during the boer war. Somewhere along the way he became known as Harry Louden pronouced "Looden". I do know his father was James Louder but there are so many I can't figure out which is right. Any ideas are gratefully accepted.

I have managed to break a wall with Gfather Pust by finding and contacting a historical society about where I thought they lived in MN. He married Gmother Johanna Brose in 1895 when she had 5 children. I received their marriage cert. a copy of the birth of Uncle Otto and my father August plus the fact he was a twin. I can find her marriage cert for William Brose but there is nothing other than the date; no maiden name or birth places. Later I found where they owned land in Danver's Villiage MN 1900 and sold it in 1902. Nothing until they moved to Lacombe District in Alberta, Can. For all three persons; G-fatherAugust Pust, William Brose and Johanna it is stated they were born in Prussia. Other than the passenger listing for August in 1891, info from MN H.Soc. that William arrived in Chicago 1876 and Johanna in NY 1881 according 1900 census I keep having trouble finding anything further.

Another brick wall I have is what was the maiden name of my 3xgreat-grandmother,Mary Drake. She married William Drake,Jr. at some point(also need their wedding date & place). I find them first in the 1810 census for Bedford Co.,PA. So possibly Mary was a neighbor of the Drakes in Bedford Co.,PA. William & Mary Drake moved to Harrison Co.,OH. in 1819.

Thanks for any help!

I'm trying to figure out who were my 5xgreat-grandparents on my Drake line. Their son was William Drake,Sr. born circa 1760 either MD. or PA. He married Elizabeth Hinkle on 17 Oct.1780 in Frederick Co.,MD.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Jay'me-
I posted a comment to your page- I also found Joseph's father's death info on the Family Search Pilot site, it indicates they must have left Canada before 1897, as his father died in Detroit Michigan May 12, 1897. And in 1930, I find that at least on the Ancestry.com index it indicates that Odelia's sister Mary Legarie age 70 is living with Odelia and her daughter, spelled Adelia. I'll check Footnote to see if they have the actual image, as I can't locate it on Ancestry.com.

As much as Ive found out about one side of my family, I am completely stumped about the other side, my grandfather, Joseph Laforce from Canada. His mother has an unusual first name, Odilia spelled a couple of different ways. I cannot come up with her maiden name. Shes from Canada too. I have so many generations on my moms side and would like any information of what to do that anyone can give me. thanks!!

These are some of my favourite sources (at Qld State Archives) for overcoming Brick Walls - hospital admission registers; asylum, prison and police station records; Police Gazettes; and Court of Petty Sessions records of maintenance payments.

I've had heaps of brick walls, some I've solved, some I never have. A common way for me to successfully solve them is to do more work trying to trace collateral lines, as oftentimes they will turn out to have clues that I hadn't found in my direct line research.

Shauna
Charles is in Emerald in Queensland up until 1925 1903 being the earliest meaning he would have been at least 21 in 1903. He seems to vanish after that in the Electoral rolls anyway.
Hope you can sleep tonight!!
