Joyce, I did it again this a.m. at 9:20 a.m. and it did fine! Your problem could be caused by many different things. Maybe close your firewall until your work is done. Also, don't try to merge; too many questions to answer. Also, don't name it the same thing, put a 2 or a 3 after it, then go back and erase the older one when you are satisfied. I found that if I tried to save it on top of itself, it didn't work as well. Hope this helps!

try clicking on open and existing tree and it should let you select which one you want.

I upgraded to FTM 2010 and have been working on the file. I reopened it today and it will not let me load my current tree file. The plan screen is just create a new tree. I can see my tree file under the tree options dashboard but can not open it. I also can see the tree when I try file open but again when I click it, it takes me back to create a new tree screen. Has anyone encountered this?

Joyce and others, I got the magnifying message several times also. Just delete the tree and download again. Only this time, download first thing in the morning when ancestry is not busy. I have Vista and FTM 2010 and it actually does what they say it will. You can download every picture and story. Only problem is, the stories are little "note pad" stories, and impossible to read cause the line is so long. I have already written a suggestion to FTM to add an ap to the program that would allow us to read the stories in a better format. They are very accomodating, and I am sure over time they will come up with something. But really, don't give up. You CAN have your pictures!

I also have Vista and FTM 2010 imported my tree just fine but I also did not get the pictures. Where the pictures are suppose to be there is a magnifying glass and what looks like a book.

I have Windows Vista & installed FTM 2010, and it seems to be working. I exported one of my online trees from Ancestry. It didn't bring all my pictures, though, so will have to check on that. I haven't really had chance to check out new features. We'll see.

First chance I have had to be on the computer since I asked if anyone else was having problems logging in on Ancestry.com. After calling them and being on hold for 20 minutes they reset something and told me to try logging in again. I only use one computer that I use a password for. The only time I was on another computer was at the library and there I used the library edition.

Will the Family tree 2010 work on Vista? I have had some problems with 2008 edition. I cannot print off the reports which I thought would be easier to take to the library and also to the court houses. So far I have been unable to get through at Family Tree. I was on hold for 30 minutes one day then had to hang up to take my mother to the doctor. My time is limited as taking care of my mother with Alzhemiers and my hubby has health problems. In what time I have on the computer I would like to be able to just look up something or add something to my tree and/or my hubby's. Any suggestions. Thanks for all the great input everyone is sharing.

Hello, Everyone. Is this group just for technical questions about Ancestry.com or about difficulty moving through genealogical brick walls? I use Ancestry.com mainly for finding ancestors on my mother's side of the family, since here family (Hill) has been in the U.S. probably 200+ years.... I am stuck at my Great-Grandfather, William D. Hill (b. January 1850, Alabama). Can't find his birth record or who his parents or siblings (if any) were. Thank you. If I am in the wrong discussion group, please advise... I will "move" on. Cordially, Sue

Well, looks like it is all working. I got my tree from Ancestry. I'll let everyone know if I have any problems.
