I am researching my maiden name of Diviani which originates in Canton Ticino, specifically in the Parishes of Campello and Calpiogna. These villages are in the Leventina Valley, just south of the Saint Gottard tunnel. I have transcribed the parish records (1661 onwards) of these parishes and have substantial information of the family worldwide. I would be happy to hear from anyone who has links or connections with either the Diviani family or these villages

Hi Michal, I also have Grünig in the Burgistein area. Do you know anything earlier than what you listed? I have numerous lines in the Wattenwil, Thurnen, Belp, Forst, etc. area south of the city of Bern. There are too many to list here, but they start with Zimmerman and Wenger. See the link to my homepage on my profile for the entire list. I also have another Swiss line (Mohler) from Diegten, Canton Basel.

My main Swiss names are Graber, Saurer and Zaugg all from Canton Berne. I haven't done anything to connect them to anyplace more specifically than that. On my Graber line I do know that Rudolph (b. 1853) came over with just his sister and is supposed to have older brothers as well as his parents who all stayed in Switzerland.

My "primary" Swiss surnames are Phend and Wiseman. Both were in Canton Berne. The Phend family was in Aarmuhle/Interlaken, don't know for sure the locality where the Wiseman family originated. In the Phend line connecting families in Switzerland are Kübli, Laederich and Frutiger though I've done virtually no Swiss research on them.

Am researching: vonAllmen/Allmen/Almen/Allmon/Allman/Alman/Ollman/etc., Steiner, Brunner, Buhler, Schmoker, Graf, Wiss/Weiss, Maerlingen, and Gafner in Bern. Specifically the areas of Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Iseltwald, Unterseen, Boenigen, Beatenburger, Gsteig, and Guendlischwand/Gundlischwand.

I am also researching some names/places that I'm not related to but are connected with my family: Hubscher from Schaffhausen, Beuggert from Unterseen, and a few others.

Hubschers went to Michigan while all my Swiss relatives ended up in Olney, Richland, Illinois in the mid-1800s and then spread out from there (mostly to Missouri and Indiana).

I am researching the Grunig/Gruenig side of my mothers family. The Grunig/Gruenig 's came from Biel, Aeschi, Krattigen, and Burgistein areas of Switzerland. My GGGGrandfather was Johannes Grunig/Gruenig and he married Marie Monnier on 18 Jul 1857 in Tramelan, Bern, Switzerland. The came to america in 1890 after their sons, Johannes Gottfried Grunig and Carl Edward Grunig came and settled in Montpelier, Idaho. I know Johannes was a watch maker prior to coming to America and his sons had to go through a school to get an apprenticship when they were young. Johannes Gottfried was a Butcher by trade after he got his apprenticship. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! TY Michal
