My great grandfather, Johann Friederich KREBS (b. 5 Nov 1867, Wattenwil) emigrated to America from Wattenwil. I have done extensive research in Wattenwil and the surrounding area. She lives in Berkeley, California which is across the bay from San Francisco. I don't know where her husband's family is from, but that's easy enough to remedy.

I looking for the Krebs families of Oppligen and Nieder-Wichtrach, Kanton Bern, Switzerland, who have emigrated to the U.S.
We are (my family) Krebs of Oppligen. What does Heimatort (home place, place of origin) mean? Swiss Citizenship
The Heimatort is for a Swiss Citizen very important, it ist the place we are from, the place of our fathers! In Switzerland live 18 Krebs families with different Heimatorten. (The old places, since before 1800) Every town or village is a part of a church parish, the church books are the most important source for genealogy in Switzerland.
