Hi Alan Stewart Long; Alan Long from Dublin Ireland here , very nice to meet you. My late Father Joe Long was a Cork man born in 1915. His Mother was a Julia O'Sullivan, also a Cork womes born in 1888 in Ballycurreen.
Please check out my family tree website www.alanlong.net and see if there are any connections.
I must say it seemes a little strange talking to another Alan Long, this has never happened to me before.
Keep in touch please.
Regards . Alan

Hi
Just to confuse things you now have a second Alan Long in this group so I have added my middle name Stewart so as not to get confused with Alan from Dublin (Hi Alan)
According to my Great Grand Aunt Ann SULLIVAN nee LONG in her 1911 English Census return which she filled in herself she states that she was born in 1837 in Macroom County Cork.(Wasn't I lucky!)
I found a reference to a Timothy LONG Papist in the 1766 Census for Macroom
on Ginni Swansons website http://www.ginnisw.com/macroom.htm
so it would appear they had been there for a while. My Great Grand father was a Timothy LONG too although he wasn't born until c1821 Cork and had a father named Daniel, a carpenter and a mother name Mary ?
Anyone see any connection?
P.S Ann's husband was John SULLIVAN born in Lambeth London but of Irish parents (John and Frances)
Cheers

I'm looking for information about Patrick Henry Rice who emigrated from Newry, Co. Down . Born about 1843. Trying to firm up this date, location and parents names. He married Ellen Ryan in Toledo, Ohio and lived in Little Rock and St. Louis. Anyone else have any information? Or suggestions?
Comment by Bernie Bradner on July 17, 2009 at 7:51am
Hi Listers,

My main interest is with the Bradner Family name but I am also researching a Hugh Corrigan who immigrated to Quebec, Canada before 1860. As a result I have collected information on a total of four Corrigan branches that came to the province about the same time but I have not linked them. Anyone reseaching these Corrigans?

Cheers Bernie

Anyone know about the surname MUCKLEHONE? I have some information on a relative:

John Mucklehone came into the province of Ontario about 1785 with his wife, Elizabeth, and three children. John Mucklehone had come from Ireland to the U.S. (N.Y. State). At the end of the Revolutionary War he immigrated with his family to Welland Co. around 1785.

Is Mucklehone an English-type version of an Irish surname or is it just very rare?
