Hi.  I am hoping someone can help me to find an obituary/buriel for David Hill who died/buried 31 August 1882 in Greene County, Indiana.  His wife was Cynthia Worthington Hill who died between 1880 and 1900.  Thank you.

Looking for information on the following people: Walter Baker, born in Miami County IN (maybe Gilead) around 1882. His parents were John Baker (b 1857) and Sarah Barnhisel-Baker. John Baker parents were Timothy Baker and Susan Messinger-Baker. Timothy and Susan are buried in the Old Gilead Cemetery as well as Henry & Laura Baker. Timoothy's father was also named John Baker & he is also buried in the old Gilead Cemetery. He died April 23rd, 1867. I would love to find out any information on this set of Baker's. Thanks,

I am in need of a record of death for Cornwall J Brown.
(Death Cert., Newspaper article, obit, etc.)
He lived in Indianapolis, Marion Cty in Indiana.
(Other possible spellings: Cornel, Conwell, Cornwell, or John)

I can find him on the 1920 census, but not the 1930 census.

He was born in Jan 1857 in Ohio. I am assuming he died about 1924-1925
His wife was Della (maiden name unknown) Brown.

His father was Benjamin Franklin Brown.
Can anyone help me? ...

Jesse Drake came from Lexington, KY to what later became Cass TWP, Ohio CO, Indiana about 1797. By 1821, he had bought land in Decatur CO and lived there until about 1840. He wasn't on the 1840 Census in Decatur CO, IN, but he and his wife Jane sold land there in 1845. Does anyone know when he died and where he is buried? Three probably children of Jesse are Benjamin & Dillard Drake and Martha Drake who married William Ross, Jr. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hunter Family Troubles, Part II [Part I is below.]

I am also trying to determine what happened to John Thompson Hunter's younger brother, RICHARD TAYLOR HUNTER, b. 31 Aug. 1860.

By all information I have been able to find, Richard was a model citizen, a coal miner, who eventually moved to Arkansas. Richard may have been married in Indiana, but I can find no marriage record for him there.

Richard DID marry, apparently for the second time, to a FLORA [last name unknown] about 1910, but again I have great difficulty in finding a marriage for them. Flora was more than 10 years older than Richard--he 39 and she 52--when they married.

By 1920, Richard was living in Paris, Short Mountain Township, Logan Co., Arkansas. Flora--whose name was actually Florida--had died 18 May 1917. He was residing with a family named Janett, who may or may not have been relatives. Richard was the City Marshall of Paris, Ark., at that time.

My question: How did he end up in the State Convict Farm in Dudley Lake, Jefferson Co., Ark., in 1930? Did he kill someone--and not in the line of duty as city marshall?

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me on Richard T. Hunter

I am researching my father's family, Hunter and its allied families from Daviess Co., IN.

I am looking for more information on JOHN THOMPSON HUNTER, b. 12 June 1857, the first child of Aaron A. Hunter and his wife Sarah Ann Lawrence, and his wife, IDA M> [last name unknown] .

A little background:

John's father Aaron was killed at the Battle of Shiloh on 7 April 1862, leaving Sarah with three small boys to raise by herself. She remarried to a scoundrel named named Stephen Lovell, who absconded with Aaron's pension money and left her pregnant with another child, this time a daughter.

Sarah divorced Stephen in 1867 and married for a third time in 1869 to a much older man, Hubbard Love, who had children almost as old as she herself was.

In the meantime, two of Aaron and Sarah's sons, John mentioned above, and RICHARD TAYLOR HUNTER, b. 31 Aug. 1860, both ended up in trouble with the law.

John shot and killed Hiram Wykoff/Wycoff in an argument in 1879, for which he was sentenced to two years in prison and then released for good behavior. He had only been out of jail for several months when he again shot and killed another man in August 1882. He ran from the murder scene but was recaptured weeks later in Springfield, Ill., and brought back to Washington, IN, for trial.

John was sentenced to life in prison at the "Big House," the Indiana State Penitentiary at Michigan City, LaPorte Co., IN, where he died on 16 Dec. 1900.

In the short time when John was free from jail, he married an IDA M. ---------- in August 1882.

I am searching for information on John's wife. After John was imprisoned, she divorced him in 1888 and married to a man named Sam Harbin, who had also been involved with John in the picnic fight which ended with John's murdering William Lentz in 1882.

Harbin became involved in a plot to burn down the Daviess County Courthouse, in part to cover the tracks of former State Auditor, James C. Lavelle, who was embezzling and "cooking the books" in 1891. Harbin and Lavelle and their third accomplice, Aaron Burr Hawes, were all convicted and sentenced to prison.

So, Ida M. --------- Hunter Harbin ended up with 2 ex-husbands in the state penitentiary.

Can anyone help me find out more about Ida: her maiden name? her family? What happened to her after she divorced Sam Harbin?
