Cripe Kissin Cousins

The CRIPE surname in the USA is a convoluted one of numerous intermarriages of cousins. To that end, welcome to all Kissin Cousins; including the ULRICH, ULLERY, ULREY, MILLER, and MULLER cousins too.See More

Hite Family Reunion 2009

For those of you that missed the HITE Family Reunion at Belle Grove Plantation, Middletown, VA, boy, you missed a lot of fun and genealogy information. Here's a few things I learned:They recently identified Jost HITE's wife's maiden name. Jost HITE was presumably first white man in Shenandoah valley (that might not be true, looks like VanMETER was really first, but Jost is commonly called the first). His wife was Anna Maria MERKLE (MERKEL). Jost was born 5-Dec-1685 in Bonfield, Kraichgou,…See More

Hi Diana!
You are in luck! There is 1 CRIPE listed in the Pioneers book (mind you that these are only the people proven by a descendant and not necessarily all of the people who may qualify as "pioneers").
CRIPE, Daniel: birthplace PA, birthdate 1772, IN County settled ELKHART, Date Settled 1829, Previous Residence Ohio.
There is also a footnote for him: Organized first Dunkard church in region.
To be considered a Pioneer for Elkhart county, they had to be in residence by 1840.

I see that you are also researching Bowmans, I have some Bowmans in my husband's family tree who lived in IN (Jackson county), but came from Jessamine County Kentucky.

Diana,
Thanks for your comment. I wish I could go to the Hite Reunion. What a reunion that must be. Wow, I can only imagine. How often do they have a Hite Reunion and where is it held? I know I can't go this year, but I might could plan to go another time.
