Sue, to become friends with someone, first find them and go to their profile page. If you see a post by them, you can just click their picture and it will take you there. Or click the members link in the menu bar, and search for them. Once you are on their profile page, underneath their picture on the left is an "Add as Friend" link.

To reorganize your page, first go to your own profile page (you can click the "My Page" link in the menu bar). Each of the different sections has an "Edit" button in the upper-right of that section. You can also drag and move many of the individual sections by clicking-and-dragging the title bar of the section you want to move. There are some additional options under the "Settings" link, which is located on the right side, under the menu bar on every GW page.

I can't find out how to reorganize my page. Where do I look?

I wanted to become a friend with someone I know is already a member. But I don't do this often, do not remember how to do this, and cannot find out how to do this.

We truly do need some type of "rules" page or index or whatever. I know it has been mentioned before. But I've spent about an hour trying to do this simple thing!

Could be some kind of privacy or approval that's in a user's settings. I know there have been a few Ning updates recently, and I haven't figured out all the changes. /shrug/

If you recall who you were having trouble commenting on, I'd say try again. If it still doesn't work, try sending them a personal message (or friend them and send a message with that) - to see if they have some kind of pending action awaiting.

Hi Johnny!

Looks like it worked on your page.
Could it be a privacy setting on the different persons accounts maybe?

Richard, I see you have posted some comments in the past; where these using Firefox, or a different browser?

I've not had any trouble posting comments with Firefox (and just commented on your page to make sure).

Hi!

I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem, but I have tried to add comments on a couple of profiles but it seems like I can not to that while using Firefox.
Anybody else have the same problem?

Rosemary, anything that can be accessed without a login can be picked up by search engines and web crawlers.

Note that there are some security measures that can be taken to prevent them accessing, but its typically so involved that people will just require a login to view it (if it really is sensitive information).

I was not aware that web crawlers pick up group postings at GenealogyWise.com.

I am having trouble finding out how my G/Grandfather came to Australia. I have checked all Australian records. Convicts, Assisted and Unassisted lists but no luck. Is there anything I can check from the English records that would tell me when and how he left England. He wa born in Little Shelford Cambridgeshie England in 1839, appeared on the 1851 census and married out here in 1871 so the time span would be between 1851 and 1871. any help would be appreciated.
