Good day all Here is my brick wall G Grand parents brick wall.
I am unable to find my G Grandfather in the 1930 census.
James Washington Hilley
Born Aug 03 1874 Elbert County GA.
Died: Nov 02 1936 Laurens SC
Buried in GA: Don't know where is my one wall.
He had divorced his wife in prior to the 1930 census since I did find her listed. After that she too disappears.
Her name was Ada C Thompson Hilley. She was last noted in the 1930 census in SC. After that no other info. I am sure she has passed but I can not find any note or record of her death.
She was born in May 1878 Madison County Georgia. Lived many years in Anderson SC area. Was in the State hospital where it listed her as divocred. There was a mention of her in her daughters obit, Showing the name Ada Hilley Thompson. Any help would be great.

Randall,
Thank you for the reference to where Alice was born. Also in paragraph 3, you mention about her parents in the 1860, 1870, etc but you didn't give me their names.
One of her daughter's name is Bernice, so I am thinking that that is what the "B" stands for. In paragraph 4, you mention "This family has a daughter Bridget" what family are you refering to? Alice's direct family w/ Herman or a sibling of Alice's?
As far as I know, they used they first names for their whole life.

Michael,
You have Alice Lee in Seattle, but wouldn't my Alice Lee be Hartwig and not Lee? I don't think she is my Alice Lee Hartwig.
Thanks

Lisa:

I'm sure that is her. During that time period, I would doubt that there were a lot of Mississippians going to Minnesota, and given that you know she was in St. Paul by 1895, you're probably dealing with too many similarities for this to be a coincidence. You have the same year of birth, state of birth, and parental countries of origin, there seems to be little doubt that this is your Alice Lee.

That was my cousin Carol, that had written that. She got the info from me.

I am not even sure that is her. I have no info to show that she was a servant before she met Herman Hartwig.
Thank you anyway.

Here is my brickwall.
Alice B. Lee b. 22 June 1867 MS d. 15 Aug 1954 Seattle, King, WA. She married Herman Frederick Hartwig in 1896 in MN.
I don't have any info on Alice before 1895 St. Paul, MN census. 1900 census says that her parents were from Ireland. But the 1920 census says that her parents were from England. And the 1910 census says that her father was English and mother was Irish. Same thing in the 1930 census. Ancestry.com hasn't popped up w/ anything on her parents or where in Mississippi she was born.

Thanks for any help.
