Just wanted everyone to know I just ordered my compy of the 2010 Family Tree. Looking forward to being able to transfer my trees from Ancestry w/the pictures. Has anyone tried printing reports from their new 2010? I tried on an older version (just a listing of the ancestors w/their births/deaths/marriages to take to the library or court house instead of carrying the notesbooks and it wouldn't let me.

Hi Rhoda,

Thanks for writing your comments. It sure is a long time and I've hestated buying a new one for various reasons. I have purchased so much software that I'm afraid won't work on Win 7 and the reviews on Vista were not good so I stuck with XP. Even there I didn't want to install SP3 as that caused issues so I'm still with SP2. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I use Firefox and hate I.E. with a passion. I heard that Win 7 is what Vista should have been. The prereviews are good but only time will tell.

It would be nice to know what experiences people have with FTM and Legacy running under Win 7 if that's even possible. Also, you are right about gettting a new printer for doing photos as my old one only does a fair job at that but is great on text, etc. I think mine is now going on 16 years strong.

When do you expect to receive your Win 7? I heard it would be available some time this fall. I'll be very interested to see what your experiences are with it and how FTM works on it, if it does.

I'm sure you are not wasting money on purchases for your computer and it's always fun to try new things!

10 years is a long time for a computer, Stephanie, so yes you should get a new one. If you print photos, you should get new printer.

I have Windows Vista and have regretted it since day one. I miss XP. I've pre-ordered Windows 7 and hope it is Savior its touted to be.

I hope FTM 2010 will work with Windows 7!!

I always feeel like I am throwing money at my computer. :)

I could, Rhoda, but it's time for a new one. This old Dell desktop is almost ten years old so I could say it's an old "clunker" and time for a new one. I've been waiting for the new MS Win7 to come on the market. I didn't want to deal with Vista so I'm still using XP until then.

I'd also like a nice big flat screen monitor and my printer an HP is still going strong after 15 years of use but I'd like a new one. Now that I think about it my HP scanner is getting up there in years just like me! I do hate the thought of starting over though and reinstalling all the stuff I got on my computer now. Yuk.

I have to dig in and start using the program and it's new features. I like the web
dashboard.
To Stephanie Coles Hettich, maybe you can add more RAM to your computer?

Got my FTM this afternoon, installed it and downloaded one of my large trees from Ancestry. No problems and it's great and nice to see all my photos but the notes should be better formatted. No complaints so far. I have Legacy and this is quite different. It's a nice backup for my Ancestry file. My only problem is not enough RAM so the program runs too slow. I expected that. I have a pretty old computer that has served me well but probably time for a new one.

I figured it all out, and got my online tree into FTM 2010.

All y'all with hard questions, some of you are paying for Ancestry, right? Well, if you are, just give them a call and they will be glad to help you. Their phone number is 1-800-262-3787. And even if you are not a subscriber, I think you would be entitled to help if you have just paid good money for FTM.

I thought I had imported my online tree, into FTM 2010, but I can't locate on computer. I just tried to do it again, and Ancestry said there was an error and to try again, but they won't let me, the export button is gone. Any suggestions?

Joyce and others, another thing to consider is that I only have a little over 1000 people in my tree, but I do have over 1300 records, 150 photos, and 75 stories. Most people would consider my tree small, but after dabbling a little with distant cousins, I am mostly interested in direct lines.
