I cannot load reports in the normal fashion, but I can still load them in HTML files, which I have. I believe soon that Ancestry will take them down, such as most free data that was on the web the last 15 years. A lot of USgenweb is gone, SSI records at Rootsweb is gone, There are a few sites left, like some free census records at USgenweb census project, and a few county projects, plus the LDS site and findagrave. I don't have the knowledge to set up a new site, I wished I did. Maybe I can get together with my IT daughter in Wyoming someday and get a site up.

So I guess I need to go ahead and take down my home page, I'm not adding it to Ancestry.com

Russ,

I got a message back today, and they admit it's their problem, I just find it hard to believe they haven't fixed it for 31 days now :

We are sorry for the difficulty. The following versions of Family Tree Maker have the ability to upload to a Home Page ( when this feature was working ):

Family Tree Maker 2005

Family Tree Maker 2006

Family Tree Maker 16

Versions of the Family Tree Maker program prior to Family Tree Maker 2005 are older versions that are no longer supported. Unfortunately due to an ongoing technical problem it is not possible to upload to a Home Page at this time. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Russ,

I will try that, I think they know they have problems with the Home pages, and just haven't dealt with it yet.

Russ,

Kevin still wouldn't nelp me. I told him the problem wasn't with my FTM11, but at their end. He just told me to upgrade because they no longer support FTM11. We went around and around, in several emails,  and he kept giving me the same answer, he couldn't help me unless I upgrade.

Russ, I told them that the problem wasn't with my FTM, but on their end, and Kevin still said I had to upgrade because they no longer support FTM11. And I wrote back several times, but got the same answer, upgrade tp 2012.

I tried emailing them, the Kevin there wouldn't help, he said they no longer support FTM11

Russ,

My old FTM11 doesn't have an advanced box, but I go to Ftw.ini in Notepad, and I had already put in HostName=familytreemaker.genealogy.com

I can add HTML files, but cannot load reports anymore. I get that same message. I tried uploading an internet tree, and it gave me the same message, but appeared it on my site, as an update, but didn't work, so I deleted it. I guess they have have a major problem at their end, and won't fix it.

I still use FTM11, I don't like the more complicated newer versions, since Ancestry took over, but since I tried to load a Book Jan. 1st, I still get the message :

"You have already uploaded an item that is currently being formatted. You will not be able to upload another item until this is done. Formatting takes approximately 15 minutes,"

I have got that message for 3 weeks now, I can't upload any reports. Genealogy.com support won't help me, because of my old version. It worked fine up until now ? You have helped me a few years ago Russ, Any suggestions other than buying FTM 2012 ?

Hello. I saw your profile and noticed that you are researching the surname Worthington from PA. I also have Worthington lines, from PA, particularly Bucks County. Maybe, there's a connection. Mary Beth

Hey, I think I just figured out how to make the report, with no sources, etc. Yea!!! Janet

Hi - Thanks for bearing with me. I finally found the New Discussions - they were at the bottom of the page, not the top.

Privatize?? Not that I know of. I went back and don't see where I could privatize, even if I wanted to. The other problem is getting rid of all the headers and footers because I am deleting all the sources for this report. It is a PAIN. There must be an easier way. I am still studying this. Janet

OK - me again. I went to http://www.genealogywise.com/group/familytreemakerusers - I hate to be a dummy, but for me there is a dark green line with all sorts of possibilities - NOT Start Discussion. There are too many pages to this thing.

Anyway, I got the genealogy report to my documents. I had trouble getting the page divisions off, but finally did (after I deleted what I didn't want in it). Then as I was scrolling down, I realized they had changed everyone who might be living, to "living." Now, I told them I felt that the changes were all geared to putting stuff online - which I am not interested in doing - at this point, but that was beyond. So now, I will have to go in and manually add all those names back in to produce a report for a friend. Unbelievable. Janet

Thank you, Russ. That worked. I didn't really know what RTF was. Next time I will start a New Discussion. Janet

Tell me how to start a new discussion. I have tried just what you said. I opened it as a html - couldn't seem to make changes. I don't think one can make changes to a PDF. It seemed it only wanted me to make changes in another ftm form or gedcom - I am not savvy enough to know how to do some of these things, but I don't think a gedcom will help me. I used to just "copy" and "paste" - heaven forbid they keep it simple. Janet

I am a new FTM 2010 user. I hate learning new programs, I would still be using 2005 if I could have found the disc for it after reformatting my computer. Having said that - how do you copy a generated genealogy report (or anything) to a .doc or .pdf format to make personal changes and to use in an "outside" manner.

Janet
