Does anybody know of anyone offering their services to do searches and things in the Montreal area? I need somebody to do some searches for me in the archives of the Montreal Gazette.

Hi, Robert

Would love to correspond about the Burns. I am down from the eldest daughter Margaret (1866-1944) who married John Vint (1857 - 1922). Their eldest daughter was Annetta May Vint (1886-1966) who married Samuel Brown (1883-1936).

Their only child was Donovan Samuel Brown (1920 - 2005) He married Alice Jessie Wilkins (1925 - ) and I am their eldest daughter Nancy Jane Brown (1951-)

I have 2 sisters and 1 half-brother (on the Wilkins side).

My Dad was born in Manitoba (grandma went back to her mothers' to have her child. Her husband was an oil driller who went all over the world, so I can understand that! When Sam retired from the oil business, he bought a house in Windsor, Ontario and that was where I was born and grew up.

I have never been to Manitoba, but would like to go someday. Mom & Dad went in the early 70's and looked up a lot of Vint and Burns relatives while they were there. I have Mom's notes.

All the best,

Nancy

We are both in the Croatian Research group, and I noticed that you are also researching the PAYE surname. My mother is a Paye. I have a pretty extensive Paye lineage, through the early days of New France.

Thanks Robert. I haven't touched the Angus' family for some time now as I ran into a lot of dead ends. This is my husband's family and the first one I started researching once I retired and had the time to do the work. The original folks that came over with the Rutherglen Union Society (Lanark Society Settlers) were John Angus b. abt 1781 d. Dec. 11, 1859 and his wife Margaret Smith b. Mar 6, 1794 d. Aug. 15 1871. I was able to find a lot of information through the Perth Courier and books by Carol Bennett McCuaig. I have "Founding Families of Bromley Township" parts of "The Lanark Society Settlers" and "The Lanark Society Settlers: Ships' Lists of the Glasgow Emigration Society 1821" by Gerald J. Neville and would be willing to do lookups also. I also found the Lanark County Genealogical Society to be a very big help. The Canadian Gravemaker Gallery has also made a big difference. Parts of the Angus family are also found in Dalhousie, Lavant and Lanark Townships as well as, Renfrew where the one son, James moved to at an early age. There is another Angus, Andrew, who is thought to be a brother to John that married and moved to Pontiac County, Quebec. Unfortunately, none of your names fall within the names I have found in the Angus or the Irvine families.
