HI Linda, unfortunately my husband's BATTYs are from the south of England, as far as I've been able to trace. My MOORHOUSEs are from Yorkshire, most definitely!

The family appear to have been in Quarley near Andover. Walter MATON b about 1838 was the father of Albert William MATON b about 1861 baptizes in West Cholderton Wiltshire (where his mother was born).
Albert married my relative Alice Maud SAVO(U)RY.
My MATON family is much more recent will check them out and get back to you.
I cannot remember where they came from as they lived in Eling in late 19th century.
