Hi,I have researched the Elkins line starting with William Elkins who fought in the Rev War from Henry, Va. He married first Elizabeth East in Henry, Va. They moved to Oglethorpe County, Ga. sometime about 1793. Their first two or three children were born in Virginia, and the rest were born in Ga. Elizabeth died about 1810, and William remarried in 1814. He died in Oglethorpe County, Ga in 1829.Many of his descendants moved to Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Mostly around the Claiborne and…See More
Hi all,The end of February, a dear friend passed away. Her daughter and I were cleaning out the house and found 8 post cards that were mailed in the 1940's. They are all in German and none of us speak or read German. Is there anyone on this board that knows how to read German and would be nice enough to transcribe them for us? I am sure they were just friendly notes, but would love to know what they say. Thanks,Cheryl W. TerrySee More

If you are interested in the records, there is also another way to get them. Footnote.com has almost all of the military records online. They got them from NARA. They are separated into Union/Confederate, state and surname. You can print off…"
I hope you can find some sites on here that you like. One of the better ones is the American Rev War site. I also have a lot of German names, so I am a member of the Germany site. People on every one of the sites are very helpful, and there…"
I don't know what state your ancestors lived in. But, I have done quite a bit of research in Virginia during the late 1700's and early 1800's. I found records there in wills, deeds, marriage records, tutorship or custody…"

I am not familiar with the names you have for the Day/Boyer marriage. But, I find when I can't find something online that the genealogy library near me normally has the records. My suggestion is go to the library and look there. I often go…"
Your dilemma is quite unique. I have a few ideas that might help. First, I would check the Georgia Archives and the Georgia Virtual Vault to see if there is anything there under the NEW name. Also, check the pauper records. Possibly since he…"
I am making a copy of this info. I am going to Baton Rouge for a few days. My cousin has done a lot of research in that area. Maybe she can help us find out where to look. I would bet there are records somewhere there that may help.

My little sister joined. Do you see her picture? She is light years younger than me as you can see. She is trying to get a supplemental for DAR on our Thomas Price, Barnwell Co. (now Akin) SC. She has been working very hard on this and knows the problem better than I do.
Glad you like it. I think this is a good thing. Genealogy is beginning to cost so much that many will be unable to continue. This is such a relief that here is a group that wants facts and proof and willing to help and share.
Sorry to take so long to get back to you. You can see the picture of Jimmy and me. We have been more than friends for so many years, so post your picture.
You have seen me through some hard times as one of my favorite Genie Buddies and I don't even know what you look like.
