Profile Information

What surnames are you interested in researching?
Pate, Price, Elkins, MaGill, Posey, Lovett, Bollinger, Byars, Herring, Blake to name just a few.
What countries and other locations are you interested in researching?
Lawrence Co. Ala
What is your level of genealogy knowledge?
Advanced Family History Researcher
If you are a genealogy expert, what are your specialties?
Don't claim to be an expert. In the years before Computers came into the "World of Genealogy" I published four surname guarterlies. "The Pate Pioneer" " The Elkins Eagel" "The Byars-Byers Family Enquirer" and "The Cole Chronicle". Due to health reasons and health problems I had to put genealogy on the back burner so to speak. Now, with the computer I'm back.
For what reason did you start genealogy research?
IWe moved to this area and had no knowledge about families who lived here in the past. When I told my mother about buying the land, she told me my grandparents married in Leon Co. Texas. She said she had always wanted to know about her roots and since a new Genealogical Society had just been started, I joined it 30 years ago. I found I was kin to half the people in the area.
Do you have a genealogy website or blog?
http://no

Roots Magic 4th edition

I just got my software and got it loaded. Then I put a PAF on it and it's so easy to use. I want documentation when possible and the PAF has some errors. I can quickly delete the errors and post documentation if I find none. I like it.

Daniel Pate

Daniel Pate born ca 1812 NC, to Miss, then to Leon Co. Texas
he married Susanah Graham. Hopefully he had ancestors in the Rev. War. yDNA says he descends from Thorogood Pate. Have yet to be able to find the connections.

Clovis,

16 Was not too young in that day and age. Look at William Elkins. According to DAR records, he was only 17. One year older. Tell her when I get back I will look at the library and see what I can come up with there. Possibly other 16 yr olds if that is the problem.
