Just remembered one of my Somerset family names!! How I could forget it is mind boggling.
I descend from William Trott of Childen Polden through Joseph Trott who came to Wales.
But if anyone out there has parish registers for Childen Polden you will notice there are two William Trotts who both have sons called Joseph any ides which one is mine.

Always exciting to find a cousin - no matter how far 'removed' though. Will certainly let you know if I find anything later.

Jill - sorry, I don't see your Ann Rogers as connected to mine. But, maybe someday we'll find a link.

Thank you for the welcome, I added the Carhampton discussion as my families are all from the Carhampton Hundred but I will write a short introduction. My 2x great grandmother Elizabeth Rew was born at Selworthy (baptized at Minehead) and her parents were John Rew (baptized at Wootton Courtney) and Elizabeth Siderfin (baptized at Wootton Courtney, lived at Selworthy). The parents of John Rew were John Rew (Wootton Courtney) and Sarah Moggridge (Selworthy). The parents of Elizabeth Siderfin were Robert Siderfin (Selworthy) and Grace Kent (Selworthy). The Siderfin family was found at Selworthy, Luccombe, Luxborough, Cutcombe, Wootton Courtney, Minehead. The Kent family at Selworthy, Porlock. The Rew family at Wootton Courtney. The Moggridge family at Selworthy, Culbone, Porlock, Wootton Courtney. I have several other families also in the Carhampton Hundred - Beag(u)e, Davis, Phelp, Snow, Marton, and Vicary. I have a lot of information on West Somerset.

Hello everyone, My main interests in Somerset are the surnames CRUSE and CRUWYS which I am researching as part of my one-name study. The hotspots are Wiveliscombe and Bristol. I have lots of information on all the different lines and would love to hear from anyone with an interest in these names. My other interest is in the surname TRASK which is in my mother's line. Our Trasks are all from Merriott. I'm still searching for the elusive baptism of James Trask who was supposedly born any time between 1821 and 1827 either in Merriott or Crewkerne. I think he's the son of Samuel TRASK and Mary SWEET.

Appart from my own family history I have a huge interest in Channel and Port Pilots along both sides of the Bristol Channel. If anyone comes across any Pilot I would be very interested.

Thom,
I see you have Westcountry Blackmores, my mother in law is from the family of this name found in Broadhembury, Devon.
Best wishes, Chris.
