"Ariadne" 1863-1864 Voyage To Queensland

Listening to a audio reading of an except from the shipboard diary of Maria Steley aboard the "Ariadne" passage to Queensland in 1863-64 and detainment at North Stradbroke Island. John & Ann PARSONS and family were passengers on board. http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/vbook/slq/steley/index.htm These are the gems that make genealogy interesting.

Becky Faulkenbridge is married to Tony who is descended from the Maidstone Curds.  They live in Devon and now that my parents have joined my brother there I hope to meet up with.

She has assured me that Marg et al are OK.  I was trying to contact Marg through an old email address so probably why I haven't had a reply.  Marg's email is gmcurd@bigpond.com which you might already know.

Thank you so much that in these hard times that you can spare the time to talk.

I don't know whether you've come across Becky Faulkenbridge.  She mentioned that she emails Marg it was Marg that put her onto me.  She sent me details about Richards family (who he left behind in Blighty(England) when sent away.   I've told her about all about the Curds plight in Toowoomba area but she has probably seen it for herself  on TV.  I wish you all the best and I'm praying for you all (in my own way).  Love to you all.

That's a lot of information. You have been busy. I'm very interested in finding more about Richard's family the England end because he had to leave behind a wife and seven children and I have been working on who I believe is one of them, John. His father was stated as Richard a gardener on John's second marriage.

Is the picture of your great-aunt because she looks just like a Curd.

One other thing, have you come across Marg.Curd (in Australia) her husband's family descends from Isaac. Do you know any of the Curds in your family?

Welcome to CURD group. Are you from the English family?
How are you related to Curds? Find me also on www.one-name.org and www.familytreedna.com by looking-up surnames there.
