Hello Chris, my name is Judy. I was born in Gray, Me. and have lived in Exile since 1965 in Fla. I started doing my family history in the 80"s via a friend. And have been hooked ever since. I do have some brick walls and their names (surnames) are Roundy/Thurston.. I was told they lived in Alstead, N.H. in the 1880"s but I've yet to find the family. Edwin E. Roundy and Harriet E. Thurston who are my grt. grandfather and grandmother on my mothers side. I sort of scand the Thurston Genealogy Book by Brown Thurston but didn't see the connection there. So if there is anyone out there who knows of this line I sure could use some help. And thanks

Hi,
I live in Portland but I'm from away. I was born in Iowa, lived in California, Alaska, Missouri and Indiana before we came to Maine in 2003, my wife returning to her home state. I have been involved in genealogy since 1988.
My wife is a Jones who has all the traditional Maine ancestors: Libby, Jordan, etc. I have expanded her tree extensively.
I have done several genealogies of Mainers, especially those with French-Canadian ancestry. I can do look-ups. I have subscriptions to NEHGS, Ancestry, World Vital Records, and Footnote, among others.

My great great grandfather was Job David Goodwin of Lubec, Maine. He married Almira Catherine Ryerson of Campobella Island, New Brunswick, Canada. His son, George Albert Goodwin, a sea captain was my g grandfather. Any long distance relatives out there?

I'm doing research in Maine, but I'm stuck. My ggg grandmother Mary Elizabeth Barney was born in 1839 in Lubec, Washington County, Maine. She married to a ship machinist from Trinidad, Cuba named Bernadino P. Palacios in Portland, Maine at the High Street Congregational Church in May,1859. The minister was John W Chickering. They eventually moved from there to Philadelphia and then to Colorado. I'm basically stuck on Mary Elizabeth's parents. Haven't been able to find anything other than their names. Her father's name was Charles and her Mother is a confusion, because it may have been Deborah or Barbara. I'm not quite sure which one though.

Ah, genealogy is fun! But so frustrating sometimes!
