My mother's family all lived for ages in southern Illinois. She grew up in Belleville on 78th Street. Her family lived in places like Hecker and Madonnaville. They were all farmers. Surnames include Griffin, Buncher (Bonchur), Kraft, Eschmann, and Harbaugh. If you have a connection, please give me a shout!

Some of my father's family also passed through IL. My grandmother, Ruth Kahly, was born in Cedarville, Stephenson County. My great-grandmother, Ida Santee, was also born in IL before the family relocated to Fairmont, MN. If you have info, please contact me!

I'm hoping to find information on James and Martha Allison of Fulton County. All I know is that they were married in Fulton County in 1863 and they owned land in (I think) Joshua Township. I am also searching out the Carrison and Kerr families from the same area.

Thanks Frances for your Putnam Co., IL suggestions. I have tried the Family History Library to no avail ... was in Salt Lake City in May. I'll check out those web pages.

I don't see how to reply directly to a comment. This is directed at
Ruby Coleman. Have you looked at http://genealogytrails.com/ill/putnam/ and http://www.myillinoisgenealogy.com/il_county/put.htm as well as checking on Putnam county records in the Family History Library on Family Search?

Bonnie - I don't think you are going to find Nancy's maiden name in Illinois. I don't see anything Hiram did where his mother's maiden name would come up. The earliest death certificate in DeWitt is 1878.

Hi everyone, hope someone can help. I am trying to find a copy of the 1943 yearbook from Wooddale High School. My mom Grace Schubnell graduated from there. I have a photo of her that appears to be taken around that time and want to see if I can identify the guy in the photo. If anyone has a copy I can email a copy of the photo and maybe you would be so kind as to look and see if you can find the guy? Also looking for a picture of Bob Anderson who was in the same graduating class. Thanks for any help. Vicki

I research mainly in Randolph, Union, Jackson, and St Clair Counties, with particular emphasis on The French Negroes of Illinois. For the past editions of the ongoing series, look here.
