Deirdre, who are the wives of your Robert Davis (both). I have a Robert Davis who was married to a Mary Ann or Mary Ellen Davis. There may be a Jefferson Davis connection. Sorry, I don't have the states or dates ...

I am looking for information on Sterling G Davis, census dates show multiple birth years, 1812, 1816, 1820, Georgia. He was married to Frances Byrd and Mary Daniels. Sterling and Frances had 6 children, Reubin, Allen, Eugenia, Melvina, Amanda and Louisa. I am looking for some more info on Sterling Davis. My husband is really interest in his Davis line, and we've hit a brick wall with Sterling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My mother is a Davis. Her grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather worked at the New York Evening Post. They were Robert Davis, George Williams Davis and Robert Davis. Her great-great-grandfather, Robert Davis, was an editor and had begun working for the NYEP when he was a boy.

The family is from New York, with a bit of time spent in New Jersey.

Does anyone have any relation to these Davis'?

My family history indicates that we are descended from Jefferson Davis' sister Mary Ann Davis, who married Robert Davis.

I did a little research on the Internet and it only shows a sister Mary Ellen (who was married to Robert Davis) but they only show two children, not my ancestor Amanda Jane Davis.

I think there is something to this, Mary Ann can be confused with Mary Ellen, and Jefferson Davis had another sister named Amanda Jane.

Does anyone have any idea why this missing daughter might have been skipped in the history, or can they come up with another solution to the mystery for me??

Thanks, glad to be on board, whether we are descended from Jefferson Davis' sister or not ...

Hi! My interest is in Charles Davis (m. Elizabeth Brown) and his sons, especially Levi, who were some of the first settlers in the Duck Creek/Olive area of Morgan Co Ohio. They came from Mass to Ohio around 1812.
