Comment by Kathleen Dawson on October 16, 2012 at 7:34am I am descended from Soloman Cole, b. 1753 in Baltimore, Md. on my Mother's side. His son was William Matthew Cole, and his son was John Cole. John married Permelia Andrews and they had Elizabeth Cole (Lizzie). She married Bennett Carole Simpson McAlister in 1848. Their daughter, Martha Eliza McAlister (Mattie), married Frances Guyton. Their daughter, Eula Inez, married TJ Sanders...my grandfather on my mother's side. That's my line, but I do have more going back if anyone is interested.
Comment by Jean Suddarth on July 20, 2012 at 11:06pm I've been attempting to research Coles in Essex County, Virginia which was triggered by looking for a Thomas Greenhill Cole. Thomas' mother was Roseanna. Roseanna's brother was a Greenhill, however their mother remarried an Allen after the death of her Greenhill husband so it could be that Roseanna was an Allen; a half sister. I have no idea what the given name of her Cole spouse is, however, her second husband was Richard Fuller. Richard Fuller Ambrose Greenhill (Roseannah's brother), and William Gatewood witnessed the will of Franky Cole (Gatewood, Tyler) dated Oct 11, 1785 (widow of Robert Cole). Ambrose Greenhill was deceased by the time her will was proved in 1800 by William Gatewood. (her son) and no mention of Richard Fuller.
William Gatewood married a Miss Minor and in 1753 a Thomas Cole witnessed a deed from a Threesivelluse Minor. Does anyone have a clue who this Thomas Cole's parents were and any idea what happened to Thomas Greenhill Cole? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
