I am trying to find my great grandmother, Catherine E. Conway. I have her birth year from several sources and they run from 1881-1884. On her death cert, my grandfather stated her birthday was June 7, 1881 in Camden, NJ but on census records, the year of her birth is anywhere from 1882-1884. They all say she was born in New Jersey and so were her parents. However, apparently my grandfather knew nothing of her parents because he stated they were unknown.

She was married about 1907 to Henry (Harry) R. Stiles who was born in 1870 in New Jersey. He also went by the name Henry Reed but I think he was using Stiles by the time they married. (he was raised by Reeds and didn't know he was a Stiles until the 1890s) He was listed as Reed on the 1900 census.

Please help! I've searched Ancestry and Family Search in SOOO many ways and for so many years and I don't know what else to do. I can't find evidence of their marriage or anything else about her. Thanks.

I am planning on being in NJ for a week in August... will put the Old Camden Cemetery on my list of places to visit, or the Camden Co. Historical Society. I'll take a look at their site... thanks for the website info. I'll let you know if I have any success! Keep your fingers crossed...

Comment by Anne Kerr on July 17, 2009 at 3:58pm: If Isaac Smith was buried in Camden, in 1838 it could have been Old Camden Cemetery. Have you checked with the Camden County Historical Society? They are supposed to have records for that cemetery. The website for them:

Findagrave is all volunteer submissions, very spotty coverage. But sometimes can be a gold mine of information, if you get lucky!
