I use Ancestry.com for my family trees, I now have 18 trees. My trees on ancestry are private and I thought that my info would be safe like a cloud. I did not keep up with my home software, because I have been entering data since 1995 when we had floppy disk, I was using Family Tree Maker before Ancestry.com came along, and have been through several computers, Windows 95, XP, Vista, and now 7, used USB drives, so did not keep track of all info on my own software. It just got to be to much work entering info on ancestry and then again on my software.

Well big surprise Ancestry.com lost all of my facts info that I entered in my husband's family tree 718 people.

Did anyone else have this problem?

All Ancestry can tell me is that they ares sorry for the inconvenience.

This is more then an inconvenience, some of the info can never be retrieved again, because after all of these years my links have all passed away.

Thanks, Cecily, for checking. These last couple of months were very frustrating! I sent several complaints to Ancestry about the problems I cited and was close to throwing in the towel and working offline - but their IT team must have found and corrected the bug, and as of this week everything works as it should !-)
I agree with the advice you sent James: don't take any hint as truth, as some may be contradictory, people make mistakes when transcribing, etc. Whenever possible, you should read the original document yourself to make a judgement. Add comments/notes in the text field of events you add to a person's timeline, so those who are viewing your tree can see that you have carefully documented the events.

Jayne Ireland, I've not had any issues with ancestry.com or with FTM2014. James Barry Stricklin, if the info is from a family tree or a transcription, you must verify it on your own. If you can see and download the actual document, you still need to analyze it to verify that it pertains to your ancestor.

Does anyone else have problems with updating their online tree? For example, reviewing selected tree hints, attaching media to an event on a timeline, or removing a person from the tree?  This is a relatively recent problem and does not seem to be related to tree size.

Sarah, thank you! I don't know much about his Navy service except he died not too long after Pearl Harbor I believe, he was a submarine chaser, his wife was Vera Thamm (my line), he was born in Arkansas, lived there and OK, NY, possibly even NH where my dad's aunt Vera lived. He was born ca 1898, middle name Paschal. I wasn't sure if there was much info in those Navy records, but would love to have more info on him.
