I am new here and I have a tree on ancestry, as a matter of fact I am helping about 6 people with their tree and if someone would like me to help I am here to do so.

For some reason my 2010 version does not complete or even start to find any duplicate people.  Could this be a defective disk?

John,

There is a Family Tree Maker group here on GenealogyWise. Please join as it would be a better place to have this discussion.

Hi, I'm new here and apologise if I'm wanting to discuss an issue that is already being discussed here or elsewhere. I use Family Tree Maker synchronised with my tree on Ancestry.com. I have had a lot of problems with synchronisation failing and the fallout from that. I need to discuss what is good practice in preserving information to minimise the effects of failure and the work involved in getting things back together. There seems to me to be so many issues to discuss about this that another group or a new group might be more appropriate. Is there somewhere appropriate to get into in-depth discussion on this?

No, but thanks for the warning Sherry.  Having been without my computer for 2 weeks pre Christmas due to virus, I've no wish to let this interrupt my research now!  All the best - hope it's soon resolved for you.

Is anyone else getting spam and virus laden email from the connection service via Ancestry.com myfamily connect?

I keep blocking the sender but they get around it some how.  This is the latest and having already been to one of the Links "she" includes, I know better than to click it.

My great-great-grandmother born 1808 in Greenville, South Carolina. I cannot understnad how Ancestry has her birth date but not her mother and father's name. I cannot go on in my family line without their names. Her name was Mary Harriet Jackson. Are their any Jackson's out there from South Carolina that have here family in her family tree? I would appreciate any help?
