This summer I took an online course through one of the local community colleges called "Teaching Online." For the course I had to create some content for my "students." My course was a basic genealogy course and the below is what I created just for fun:
I created this to make you aware of the tribulations and consequences of being addicted to genealogy. Enjoy!
You know your obsessed with genealogy when...
1. You have dreams that your great great great grandparents are telling you about their lives and as they are talking your typing their story into your computer.
2. The first thing you do when you hear a new family member has been born is ask for all the vital information instead of saying "congratulations."
3. You become aware that it's one in the morning and you can't remember when you sat down and started researching. Did I eat today? Where is everyone?
4. You scold people for using shorthand in their writing. Don't they know that people in the future may not understand the abbreviation for the states in the United States of America. Come on people!
5. You have banned all spillable materials from being within 50 feet of your office/genealogy sanctuary.
6. You go for a walk and in your head, put the names of your relatives on the tree branches.
7. You quiz your children on the surnames of their ancestors, including birth, marriage, and death dates for each direct ancestor. Someone has to be groomed to take your place researching the family tree when you die.
8. You try to have a family reunion every six months, just in case someone has remembered some new information about the family tree.
