My grand-uncle was Henry Koontz, former County Commissioner for Franklin Co.   During the depression, he would open up his pharmacy and give beans to the unemployed so they would have something to eat.

Thanks for the info Barbara. I'm on the west coast so page by page research is going to be difficult unless I get to Columbus. No travel plans anytime soon. I appreciate you checking on it though because now I know :-)

I did find a Thurman Thompson on the same page in the 1900 census that list Albert Stndish etc. A quick search brings up a father named James Thompson in the 1870 censu in Perry, Franklin County, wife Margaret. I think this is James Thompson and…

I just spoke with the researchers in Ohio Library System regarding a search. The index for newspapers doesn't go back before 1932 sooooooo the only recourse is to do a page by page search in the library on microfiche or hire someone to do it:-…

It seems that Columbus Ohio would have a newspaper from that time period that could be searched. Depending on where yo live you can get help at any LDS or Mormon library and order microfiche or call the library in Columbus Ohio and ask about…

I misspoke, the James Thompson I referred to in my previous post was born in OH according to the three census which locate him in Columbus State Hospital. That's what I get for trying to remember without checking my records. There is a death…

Hi Barbara, Sorry I guess what I said wasn't too clear, the photo of Minnie that is online is fairly dark looking because it was faded and there is a lot of dark crazing and other time damage on the photo - enhancing it so that her features…

I just saw that Ida Bertha Fuhr died in Los Angeles CA on Aug 30 1943 and was born Jun 27 1869 Ohio, father surname Fuhr and mothers maiden name Bushman. I hope this helps. Barbara Also she is on the 1880 census as Ida B. Fuhr living in…

I saw the same notation but there is no family listed as witness which would have helped. The name Louise doesn't make an immediate impression but you never know what I might come across. I was going to ask you about Minnie's coloring but…

My James Thompson was much older then the James that probably married Minnie Standish but I can't shake the feeling that there is a connection. Margaret Pratt was married to a James Thompson b. 1824 in VA. Margarets sister Charlotte (my gr gr…

There is an entry for a Reuben James Thompson who died Mar 22 1900 in Columbus, Ohio, machinist, parents Reuben Thompson and Margaret Thompson, born 1874. It could be Minnie Standish's husband but? no proof.

That sounds great. We would be able to do more with the site here than with Rootsweb. I like Rootsweb though. I have found some useful information there. But basically that is all it is....an information site. We could list our publications here for sale better. I am going to email your library email also.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The site is very interesting. Maybe we could add our society to it.

I like the site. There has been a person on here who has helped me make a connection already on Charles' mom's side of the family. She actually helped me get the link to get a copy of his great grandmother's death certificate for free.
