At 12:21pm on October 2, 2011, Connie D. Zimmerman said…: Nice meeting you. Thank you for responding. Norma Elizabeth Hughes gave birth to James Edward Smith in August 1924. Norma apparently skipped town for a while leaving James with her parents, Thomas and Ada. When James was 18 months old, they adopted him out to Margaret and Fredrick Zimmerman. James was renamed Louis August Zimmerman. Louis is my father. I have James' birth certificate, the adoption papers, and a copy of the 1930 census page showing the Norma was back living with Thomas and Ada. All this happened in Phoenix, AZ. The father of James listed on the certificate is B. B. Wooten ada Bill Smith from Amarillo, TX. Thomas and Ada's death certificates do not list a next of kin so I will pursue Norma through cemetary records and obits in Phx. Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome as I am new at this.
