Just found out yesterday that I was a descendant of George Soule back many generations through Elizabeth Wing Boatright and her father Edward Wing. I had never heard of George Soule or never paid any attention to the name until now. I am now reading anything I can find on him.
There were so many people with the name John Bell it can be confusing. My John Bell was born sometime in the 1700's in either NC or SC. He was married to Mary Green when she was 16 years old. Mary was born about 1780, daughter of Peter Green and Thamara? in old 96 district SC. John was the son of John Bell and Sarah?. When he and Mary Green married they went to Tennessee (dont know where in Tennessee) and there was where my gr.gr. grandmother Mary Bell was born (She later married James…See More
My brick wall is my gr.gr. grandpa Thomas Richards who was married to Mary Lee Tate in Elbert County, Ga. Thomas was born around 1797. I can not find his parents any where. Some of his decendants were tested for DNA but it hasnt helped yet. They were living in Carroll County, Georgia at the time of his death. My gr.gr. grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Brown married to James Hill Lassiter. He was a veteran of the Civil war. She was the daughter of John George Washington Brown and Sarah Carruthers. I believe these Browns came from South Carolina to Georgia
My gr.gr. grandmother was Sarepta Jane Stallings married to Samuel Tally. I am descended from her daughter Susan Ophelia Tally married to James H. Burks of Carroll county, Georgia. I have an old photo of Sarepta Jane with lots of other people in front of an old house. It looks like it might be a photo of a reunion. I dont know if it would be Stalling, Tally, Burks or maybe a Whitaker reunion, her mother was Johanna Whitaker.
