I completely agree with Gerald's comment regarding the use of FamilyTreeDNA for testing and posting the results to the Wright DNA project. The free kit I offered in my previous post will is fact be ordered through the project and a condition is that it be posted there. For your easy reference to the project, here is the the site:

I would advise that any wright family members who are thinkin of or who has tested for dna do so at famlytree dna and then linc your results to the Wright DNA Project. This will give you others who have tested with you matches that you may contact cousins. My Wright family is of Plymouth Mass. and arrived 1629. There are over 100 differant families With the name Wright.I have our dna posted on my page.

Hi everyone. My  name is Douglas M. Wright (Doug). My Wright line goes back to James Wright b. 1748 who I think is son of Dr. James Wright b. 1725 in old Nansemond Co./Norfolk Co. VA. I am searching for Wrights with lineage back to these counties in the early-mid 1700's or earlier to compare records and yDNA. Examples of related first names are: William, James, Henry, John, Matthias, Miles, Stephen. However, these are just examples. I am not picky on names as far a DNA test is concerned. If you or anyone you know can trace their Wright lineage back to these counties in VA in this time frame, please contact me or have them contact me. If they fit the bill, I am offering a FREE DNA kit to Y37 !

Hi everybody;

My name is Rob Coughlin and I came across your site while researching my Wright Line.  Hopefully someone may be able to help me.  MyG GGGrandfather was William Wright of Tunbridge, Vermont. I have no birth or Death Date.  He is listed in the 1790 and 1800 census in Tunbridge.  He next shows up in Somerset, Niagara County, New York in the 1830 Census.  My GGGrandmother,Amira Wright was Born in Vermont in 1807 or 1811?   She was Married in 1831 To My GGGrandfather Samuel Whitney Barlow in Niagara County, New York.  From Niagara County, New York they Moved to Walworth County, Wisconsin.   Any info about this family would be greatly appreicated.

My research shows that Adam Wrights descendant all moved back to Plympton, Plymouth. He remained in Vermont for the remainder of his days.

I thought I had no family in Vermont, but I was wrong. It seems the third Adam Wright in my family moved from Plympton into Vermont and started a line there. So his descendents in Vermont will have Mayflower ancestory. I have Dna posted here and I would suggest to any Wright male members to do the same. Family tree dna is the company I use. Then link the results to the Wright DNA Project. We have our family tested here in Ontario,Canada matching with the Wright family of Litchfield, Conecticut. We have a large line in Michigan and California as well. Descendents of Richard Wright of Plymouth, Mass
