Hi everyone,
My interest's in Wiltshire are the SIMS family in Steeple Ashton / Semington area and the JOBBINS, HAYES, DICKENSON and GOSLETT families from Sherston Magna. I hope to visit Sherston soon and look for headstone inscriptions at Holy Cross churchyard.

Have you looked on the Wiltshire Wills website for your Griffins Rita? There are 93 documents. The indexed Wills are all held at the Wiltshire Archives and you can order copies by email. It's worth running a search for a place rather than a name, as this may pick up names which have been spelled differently. The website is at http://history.wiltshire.gov.uk/heritage/index.php
Hope all the Group members find something useful. Keep checking back, as they are still adding to the list.

I have a bunch of SAINSBURY and CLELFORD ancestors on my tree at Ancestry.co.uk, plus many, many more old Wiltshire families. Happy to help folks looking for these.

I'd also like to offer a cheque for £1 MILLION to anyone who can find my suspected father, Christopher Henry Lodge Thomas, b.21 Oct 1909 in West Lavington. He is on the 1911 Census at my Great Grandfather Archibald Wm Phillips, but NOTHING from there on. He may have become a Phillips, or may have changed his name entirely. As I said, I'd LIKE to offer a cheque... ;-)

I'm happy to go with a 'No Find - No Fee' detective agency, if anyone can suggest one, but either way the finder will get a mention in the book I am writing on my search.

My own interests are
BREADMORE - my One Name Study - probably originated in the Bridmore area, near Berwick St John as first sightings were at Tisbury.
GODDARD at Easton Royal, CHOULES and STURGES in the Burbage area.
DAUGHTON, LEWINGTON, SIMS and TARRANT from Mildenhall.
On my husbands side
POTHECARY from Corton and Boyton.
BENNETT, FORD, THRING and WHATLEY from Steeple Langford and Hanging Langford.
MACEY from Fisherton Delamere.
BOUNDS / BOWNS and YOUNG form Wylye.

I've recently got back to my maternal 2xgt grandfather Robert GRIFFIN who is believed to originate from Salisbury, bc 1790 - this has yet to be confirmed.Another recent discovery is my gt grandmother Elizabeth WATERS' ancestors originate from Stratford sub Castle and Durnford area. Elizabeth's grandfather George WATERS brn c 1787 in SSC, died 1874 Edmonton, N London having moved around Kent & Lowestoft. My GERRARD line are believed to originate from Broad Chalk way back, before emigrating to Somerset and Dorset.. Any links to these families will be most welcome. rita

I'm a descendant from the Porter / Sheppard line - both of Atworth, Wilts., later from Bristol, and eventually Cwmbran, South Wales.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else interested in these lines. I have traced back to mid 1700's.
