Hey Everyone,

I would like to introduce ya'll to a new database for obituaries at http://www.ourfamtree.org/obituaries/.  This database is affiliated with Trails to the Past with whom I host several counties.

Please check out the site at your convenience and if interested, please post any obituaries that you have.

Hello to all! I descended from Benjamin Bush Vines 1727 SC. If my research is correct? I am pretty new to genealogy. I love finding out who I am and where my families came from. I hope to find out more and hopefully find photos of my other Vines family. My closest Vines, was my gggrandmother Ida Permilia Vines from Winn Parish, Louisiana. She married John Columbus Higgs. They had 10 children. If anyone knows more about this line, please let me know & thanks!

Debra, I think it is totally cool that you get to live in the area where your line of Vineses. I hope you are able to find solid links for your lines. I am not sure where is G.B. my line is from. Tradition says that we were on the Isle of Wight when the Vineses came to America in the early to mid 1700's. Where is Texas are you from. I live in the DFW area (Garland).

I'm apparently descended from Martha Vines, b. abt 1685 in Maryland, and her husband, Richard B. Willis. Martha's father was Samuel Vines, b. before 1646. Some researchers have suggested that he comes from East Sussex in England. I'm a native Texan who just happens to live in Brighton, East Sussex, not far from the villages of Hellingly (pronounced Helling-lye, to rhyme with "eye") and Vines Cross, where the family may have originated. I'll be happy to take photos of the area sometime, or to help with research in any way that I can.
