I am researching the ELLIOTT's in Perquiman's County, NC.  My family line starts with Bennet ELLIOTT b. abt 1573, in England and progresses down to Margaret (Margrett) ELLIOTT b. 1801, Perquiman's County, NC, d. 1868, Portsmouth, Va.    Margaret was the daughter of Dempsey (Demcy) ELLIOTT b.abt 1755, Perquiman's County, NC and Rachel SMITH  b. abt. 1759, Perquiman's County, NC.  Rachel was the daughter of Samuel SMITH b. 1730 Perquiman's County and Leah JORDAN b. 1730 Perquimans County.  I don't have date/place of Rachel's death.  Any additional info on these individuals would be appreciated.  Thanks. Another brick wall is in Stanly County...parents of Aaron N. ROGERS.  Found in the census for Stanly (as well as my 2nd great-grandfather Ruben Capers ROGERS) but am unable to fund his father's father or mother. Ruben's mother was Nancy UPCHURCH and plenty on her is available.  Thanks for any help!

I am still trying to break thru my major LEE brick wall.  I am trying to find the parents of Rachel and Sara(h) LEE.  Rachel married John YORK in 1805 Randolph County (she was roughly 12 years old????) and Sara(h) married a Hillery SCOTT.  Their mother was named Leucreacy ____ LEE but unable to find a marriage for her (don't know her maiden name) or death/will for a husband for her.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most of the Bladen research I have done is much earlier than 1870-1900, so I am not offhand familiar with the records that late.

Can anyone share their knowledge of Bladen County? Specifically, are there many records left between 1870 - 1900?  I know that there was a fire of some sort. Maybe two?  I've been told that many records were lost.  And as with  many of you, I'm at a brick wall currently.  Thanks in advance!

20 year researcher on the Warren family from Perquimans, Chowan, Beaufort & Craven Co.'s NC. 1680-1860+.

The note my cousin sent didn't say which state and really didn't say county but I bet you are right it's the county in VA.

Sharon Attaway Brogdon - If you are talking about hte county of Nansemond, that is in Virginia, not North Carolina.  Those records would be located in VA.  If you are talking about the Native American tribe and town of Nansemond, that is now in Hertford County and should be located at the North Carolina State Archives, but I'm guessing you are looking for Nansemond in VA.

Where is the best repository for Colonial Nancimond records. Very early records.
