Where to Post

I'm trying to organize things a bit so I've made threads in the Discussion Forum for each county. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread/county. If you don't know where in Kansas the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple counties, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall. As always, everyone is also still welcome to start their own discussion threads.

Since Genealogy Wise doesn't allow the option of displaying ALL Discussion Forum threads, some won't appear below. If you don't see the county or discussion that you are looking for below, click on "View All" in the bottom right of the Discussion Forum and you should be able to
find it there. Thanks!

I am looking for anyone who can help me with genealogy from the Nemaha County area. My ggg grandfather George Langdon lived in Seneca from about 1865 til he died in 1903. All of his children from his second marriage stayed in the area. I'm missing information about the children from his first marriage. Can anyone help me?

What would have been the typical travel options to go from Kansas back to the "old" country, like England in the 1890's? Would they travel to New York and catch a ship from there? Or leave from New Orleans? I have a passenger list for a ggUncle coming in to New Orleans from Nicaragua. Was this just one leg of the trip? How do I find out how he arrived in Nicaragua?

New to this website/group. I am interested in Hoftiezer/Hoftijzer, Bakelaar, and Berning/Beernink families in Norton and Leavenworth Counties.

I reside in southeast Kansas. Names researched in Kansas: Williams, Pigg, Merrill, and related families. Williams came to se Kansas from Missouri at the end of the Civil War. My grandmother Merrill was born in Decatur County, Kansas, but moved young to Cherokee County. I will do look-up in my corner of Kansas.

I'm stuck at William Henry Jones. He was born in 14 May 1878 in Bethesda, North Wales. He married Jane Ellen Lewis (nee Griffiths) on 22 Mar 1909. Died 21 Mar 1918 in Emporia, Kansas. They had two children, Ivor and Margaret. Ivor Griffth Jones was born 08 May 1909 in Redding, Kansas and Margaret Ellen was born 28 Jun 1910 in Lebo Kansas. Jane had a child, William, from a previous marriage. A few years after William was killed Jane remarried and the family children moved to Canada.
I was able to get a copy of his obit and it lists his father as Grififth Jones who was from Ty Newydd, Llanffewin, Anglesey, Wales. It also listed a brother Richard Griffth Jones who was born in 14 Mar 1874 in Bethesda Wales and died 11 Mar 1959 in Lebo Kansas. Richard was married to Mary Thomas and they had 7 children. William had a sister Alice who was married to Evan Hughes. Not sure if there was another sister

I'm trying to find any information on my grandfather and his parents. My grandfather's is Stephen D. Hale and he was born June 1939 in Atchison Co. His parents are Walter Hale and Flossie (Hershon) Hale. In 1958, he married Barbara Sheff in Troy Co.

I'm looking to find what became of GG grandparents, George Hogben and his wife Mary. I have a land deed copy that implies George died in early 1889 in Smith County. His daughter Emily inherited the 160 acre homestead and married my gr. grandfather Fred Phelps. They later moved to Nebraska. I don't know if Emily's mother (Mary) went with them, or perhaps also died in Smith County. George Hogben and Mary originally came over from England in 1868.

Kay Adkins Comment by Kay Adkins on July 20, 2009 at 3:50pm
My husband's ancestor, James Adkins, is the third signer of the Lecompton Constitution. As one of the Missouri upstarts of Bloody Kansas, he may not have actually lived in Kansas. But then again, maybe he did...
