Our power was off for a couple minutes when I was working on fam tree.  When it came back on there was a family imputted from a different branch then the one i was working on.  If I try to edit, delete or anything else it completely dissappears with all info on it.  Is there a way to send it back to the proper branch with out having to imput everything over again?

Thanks

Helen,

When you say "different branch" is that a Different Family File? or just a different location in your Family File?

When you open Family Tree Maker, you open the the Plan Workspace. In the upper right corner of that screen is a list if files that you have opened in Family Tree Maker. How many files are listed there? Do you have the correct one listed?

If you only have ONE file in that list, and the "different branch" is within your Family File, is every one listed in the Index (F2) in the People Workspace, Left column?

HI Russ
When I open FTM there is only my family tree. This is a just a different location of my tree. Yes everyone is listed in the column but not in the proper place. eg. it should be under my paternal grandfather's line: August Pust
Alma Pust

Thomas Jordon m.

Samuel Thomas Jordon
But it now in very first branch from my maternal grandmother

Any ideas other than just restart imputting. Tks Helen
Helen,

Thank you.

Just go to the person you were working on an go from there.

As you open Family Tree Maker, you might want to Note the number of individuals in your file, in the upper right of the Plan Workspace.

Then, click on Tools, Compact File and say Yes, when it asks about Backing Up your file.
