I am doing WW2 Draft cards. I figured these are easy enough till I get the hang of it. Which so far hasn't been to bad at all. But after reading census for over 6 years while doing my own genealogy I know those will be a bit more of a challenge.

Well done Bob you will find it very interesting to say the least.

A bit of help: when I started I stayed within my capabilities until I found my direction then started tackle the harder one's.

These are very challenging but am still learning as every page is of a different nature.

Just like everyone else here I too do LDS indexing.

 

I am not a member of LDS, I do this so as it can be put out into the world for others to find their or fix brick walls.

I have around 4,000 plus names to my tag and to make it more challenging I try to do the level 5 and must admit i,m doing pretty well.

I try to do England if I can; have done New Zealand and Australia, Sth Africa well that's another story.

Plus doing indexing I'm always on the look out for my own tree.

More should pursue this avenue but saying that it my not be everyone's cup of tea.

Keep at it

Hello! Just found your forum. Didn't realize there was one on here for indexers. Just began indexing for FS in March. My goal is to hit 3000 names by end of month. Don't know if I'll make but will have fun and learn a lot trying.

Thanks Jim, I think I am just a fast typer! Actually I worked in a Genealogy library for about 10 years. That got me used to reading historic handwriting and I think that experience has made it a fairly quick process, especially when I am doing a US Census. I would really recommend tracking down a map of the area, it really help when you have questions about spellings of towns. Somehow, that has also made it more personal to me. I really hope more people join in, it's rewarding and frankly enjoyable. I have certainly put in a lot of time in the area that my family is from.

Wow, Maria, you have made a huge contribution to indexing over the years. You are probably one of the most prolific indexers around. What is the secret to your succcess?
