Hi everyone, I am a new member of the group, but have been into Family History for the last 35 years. My Ancestors came to Sth. Australia from both Devon and Cornwall, but it is my paternal Devon ancestors I am most interested in. I have a problem trying to locate details of an accidental shooting of an ancestor a Philip Stafford Withall, who was born in Lympstone in 1763, married a Sarah Swan of Plymouth in 1785 and had 5 children with her. In 1791 he was buried as result of an accidental shooting (not known where this happened) but he was buried in St. Saviour's Dartmouth.
In 1798 his then widow married a Patrick Shea of Plymouth and had 4 children with him, she died in 1831.
My question being, surely there would have been some form of an inquest into the accidental shooting, I cannot find anything in the Parish Register of St. Petrox Church, and have searched the Trewman's Exeter Flying Post without any success. Does anyone have any suggestions please.
