I like the inclusiveness of the term; it includes North America, South America; in fact the entire globe!
Another way of expressing this is the African Diaspora
From Wikipedia:
African diaspora; One of the largest diasporas of pre-modern times was the African Diaspora, which began at the beginning of the 16th century. During the Atlantic Slave Trade, twenty million people from West, West-Central and South-east Africa were transported to the Western Hemisphere as slaves.
This population and their descendants were major influences on the culture of English, French, Portuguese and Spanish New World colonies. The Arab slave trade also transported Africans from the continent, although the effect of the Diaspora to the east is more subtle.

Hi group,
Quick question, has anyone used the mybirthrecordsearch.com website and payed for a subscription before, I did but I only paid $10.95 for one month and I have been looking for records of my family and can't even find anything, I even put my mom's name in it just to see and nothing comes up, she passed away in 2002, did I make a mistake? I'm going to try and get a refund back.

I grew up in Winston-Salem. The Forsyth Public Library has a fine genealogy room. I donated Dr. Hubert Eaton's black & white Eaton family history there. Though I'm white, I was honored to attend the black "Kattie "B" hospital re-union with him. The elder physician Hubert Eaton, deceased, was a hero of mine. He was involved in North Carolina desegregation and wrote the book, "Every Man Should Try"; R.I.P.

Actually Little is know of their residences in NC, Evidence shows perhaps Forsythe County for Randolph and Halifax. No county is known for William Lewis.

Ms. Gray: Can you give North Carolina counties for your Messrs. Jones & Lewis; or at least mountains, piedmont or coastal?

Hi Anna,
Have you considered scanning the documents?
I scanned my 2nd great grandfather's Civil war pension papers,etc. Since they were not original docs, I felt that they could be recycled once I made a digital copy. I would keep the original or ancient documents.

Finally going through some old papers of my parents (adoptive parents who are both deceased) Found some great documents - Dad's orig birth cert from 1928, parents original marriage cert - great stuff. Just not sure what to keep and what to toss - it's overwhelming. Example: Got original medical records from Dad's Air Force term - some, not all. keep or toss???? Will someone really care 100 year from now that he had bad sinuses in 1958??? Advice??
