I'd be interested in any Robinson family information from Virginia in the 1830's. I've tried going back one generation at a time, but my great-grandfather, George A (which we believe to stand for Alexander) Robinson was born in Virginia about 1833, made the trek from VA to MS over a long period of time. He was in Franklin County, MS 1n th 1870 census, and in the 1880 census his wife, Celia Ann (Bufkin) was a widow. I can't find a record of his death anywhere. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You are doing fine. Do you know where or when your grandfather was born? Do you know your great-grandfather's name? If your dad is alive ask him about his grandparents.This is a start.

well, i don't know much about my family. i live in western pa and my fathers name is Michael Emery Robinson, his fathers name is Emery Robinson whom married Josephine Salopek. never did this before and it is new to me i would like to know where to start. anyone, please.

Hello,

I have two Robinson families.

My maternal grandfather's line goes back to John Robinson, the Pilgrim minister.

My maternal grandmother's line goes back to an Edward Robinson.
Edward b. NY m. abt 1794 NY to Elsie Rathbone
Residence-1798 Delhi, Delaware Co., NY Tax List listed next to a Francis Robinson
1800 Census- not listed however there is a Francis Robinson living in Meredith, Delaware Co., NY who has a household consisting of 1 male over 45 (Francis),
1 male 16-26 (Edward?) 1 female 26-45 (Edward's wife, Elsie? from other records I have her birth date as either 1774-1775 so she would have been 25 or 26) 2 males under 10 and 1 female under 10.
1803-Wood Co., VA (now West Virginia)
He died sometime between 1803 and 1808 probably in Washington Co., OH which is just across the Ohio river from Wood Co., WV.

Family tradition says that "the Robinson brothers" went from Virginia to the Carolinas to Alabama and Mississippi. My George A(lexander?) Robinson was born in Virginia and was in the 1870 US Census in Franklin County, MS, married to Celia Ann Bufkin. That's my brick wall. Celia was a widow in 1880. What happened?
