I am familiar with where you live. I had family that lived in that area. I travel also when I do genealogy. When I worked at the Railroad Museum in Strasburg, Pa. The man the ran the Museum was named George Hart, his mother owed think it was the Ma and Pa Railroad.

I don't know of any in PA...mine were in Clinton, MA at least through 1900 , but before that Ireland (Louth).

Commenting about whether I am kin to the Peck at the battle of Gettysburg:

It seems I am related by marriage.  The "Peck" was actually of German descent and was originally "Beck".  The Peck's are an old family from England.

However, these German "Beck" Pecks went to Tennessee where they intermarried with other Germans and those Germans are related to my mother!

What was his name?

My Cashman's immigrated from Cork, Ireland in 1882 and eventually settled in Northampton, Massachusetts. I am thinking that your Cashmans were German. I looked into some of the families in that area years ago and there is no connection.  Elizabeth Banas

I just did a Google search of me and got your asking me two years ago about a Frederick Mulholland. There was also a James in your family. I have done nothing on this site after signing up. No idea why I did not reply.  But my Mulhollands went from Canada to MN to WI. I have a tree on Ancestry and a gal has taken all my people and added them to her tree with NY Mulhollands. I pointed out it is the wrong family but she did not remove my family that I know of. I can try to find out who she is if you do not have Ancestry. I found the NY Mulhollands pretty easily. I imagine you know that Mulholland is a Co. Armagh name.  Mary Wisconsin

Hi, Jim ... Thanks for your inquiry re: my Wheeler, Perry, and Colby lines, and a possible Avery line.

Your Wheeler and Perry lines do not match up with mine since my Wheeler line is from Albany, New York and my Perry line is rather short and is from New York.  Prior to New York I have Joseph, Sr. (1773-1841) and Joseph, Jr., but I do not know where they were located.

I have but one Avery, Eliza Avery (1838-1893) who married Elias Brown (1817-1887).

My Colby line is from Amesbury, MA and, prior to that, from Horbling, Lincolnshire, England.  If you have not been in contact with Ronald Colby already, I suggest you contact him   His website is located at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~colby/ which also gives his contact information.  He is a wealth of knowledge on the Colby line and I feel sure he would be most interested in seeing George Colby's set of journals.
