What countries and other locations are you interested in researching?
United States - Midwest, New England
What is your level of genealogy knowledge?
Intermediate Family History Researcher
For what reason did you start genealogy research?
After watching the documentary Traces of the Trade (about the DeWolf family's history as slave traders) last year, I became interested in knowing more about my Heyward ancestors, who were major rice planters and slave holders in the South Carolina Lowcountry. I also became connected with Coming to the Table, which is an organization dedicated to bringing together the descendants of slaves with the descendants of slave owners. I am a reference librarian at The Seattle Public Library, and I have the good fortune to work side by side with two expert genealogy librarians.

Hi Mary! Would you mind re-posting your comment at the LowCountry Forum? There was an error with the discussion (oops!) & we want other LowCountry natives to be able to see your HEYWARD comments.
